Vendor responded quickly and gave a fair estimate. The job was completed in the time he indicated. However, the color of the stain was not as preferred. Also, the contractor likes to deal in cash/check directly to him rather than to a company name; I do not like doing that.

Deck Doctor was the first person to give me an estimate on the work needed on my deck and the total cost. He was honest about the condition of my deck (it was actually in better shape than I thought and none of the wood needed replacing .... by the way, this is what the other deck contractors told me as well). When I hired him, he was able to accommodate my schedule and the work was done over the course of two days finishing sooner than I anticipated. Completed power washing and staining looks great! Highly recommended for your deck needs!

I hired Donald Spencer, Deck Doctor, in the summer of 2021 to stain my deck. His prices were competitive and he offered a 3 year warranty. He did then use a blended color for the job. After everything had dried I noticed that the finish looked blotchy; it looks like there are sections that had not seen any stain. It seemed to me that the deck needed another coat. I followed-up with him a few times before he committed to an appointment; he failed to actually arrive for that appointment. I talked with him, was told that he was unavailable due to serious medical issues, and so I did allow him some time to recover. Come Spring I asked him to come back and fulfill his warranty. More than once we would schedule an appointment and he would then fail to actually show up. Finally I got to a point where I asked him, as it was my understanding he did have leftover stain from the original job, that he AT LEAST give me the remaining stain. I have not had any contact with the man for some time now. I do not know if his medical issues are the reason for this or if maybe he simply does not plan to honor his warranty. This is unfortunately a risk when dealing with one-man operations like this one. I am very disappointed in Donald and Deck Doctor; I cannot recommend them. Update 6-28-2022 In response to the Deck Doctor response 1 the deck does not look great the stain is peeling in some spots. 2 I did pay him and I have a copy of the receipt. 3. I never went to court concerning the matter 4. I would never need to hire painters my house is brick, vinyl siding with aluminum trim! Update 7-7-2023 After "Angi" became involved in 2022, Spenser finally came out. His touchup of the railings & sides was okay but not the floor. He told me anymore stain on the floor would make it shiny and not look good. Spenser then promised to come back the next Spring and powerwash, sand & retain the floor if I asked "Angi" to remove my review. The Spring, 2023 was within 2yrs of his 3 yr warranty, so I agreed. I called Spenser in early Apr, 2023. He told me he was still planning to redo our deck after his upcoming doctor's appointment. I waited 3 wks and called again. This time he told me he had a medical procedure done and needed 6 wks to recover. I said I would call again if I did not hear from him by the middle of June. My first call was on Jun 19 and now after 4 calls/messages, NO REPLY!! I did read a 2 star review dated 5-20-2023. This was during the time he told me he would be recovering. Is Spenser recovering from some medical issue and unable to even return phone calls or does he have no intention whatsoever to keep his promise and honor his warranty???

Dr. Spencer - Deck Doctor re-stained my deck and stained my fence in July 2019 and gave us a 3 year warranty. The stain on deck and horizontal boards on fence faded badly and stain peeled on deck rails. My wife and I called and spoke with him multiple times and he said hed come out and fix the issues as per his 3 year warranty. He never came. Buyer beware!

Deck Doctor power washed and treated our 5 foot pine fence. He said he’d make it look like new and he delivered! Could not be happier with the way it looks.

Donald, the Deck Doctor, cleaned and re-stained our deck and re-sealed our brick patio with polymeric sand. He was reasonably responsive and gave us a very competitive quote. So far, we're very happy with the end results and would highly recommend Deck Doctor. Note that Donald is basically a one man crew and he hires addictional help as needed.

My deck looks great!! Don worked around the spring rains and did an excellent job. He did some painting too. I would hire Don again.

Deck Doctor had to work around a rainy schedule and they did so responsibly so the job took a couple of extra days but stain was applied to dry surfaces. Good guys and good work.

Don was very polite and professional. He and his two helpers arrived right on time. They worked very hard and finished the work quickly. He did the work he said he would do and did it very well. My deck has never looked so good. I would use Don again and would recommend him.

Final Deck product is very nice however customer service and communication terrible. Donald seemed to be confused regarding what was needed on my deck each time he arrived at my house, 5 gallon bucket of paint dumped into flowers/mulch, poor communication. Just does not seem we had the same experience at all given the other positive remarks.

Donald stayed on top of the deck project from start to finish. Monitored the weather and picked just the right days to work. Very professional,beautiful result.

Don did an outstanding job and the price was better than I've ever paid others in the past - for much less quality work! He kept me aware of his schedule along the way and it truly looks like we have a new deck! The patio looks awesome as well! We will definitely use him from his point forward for all of our deck and patio needs!

I requesting quotes thru HomeAdvisors for a deck refurb. Don @ Deck Doctor responded almost immediately. Don visited me at my home early the following morning at my convenience, reviewed my request, gave me some suggestions and quoted me for project. I decided to proceed with Don and am very happy that I did. I highly recommend Deck Doctor because of the following: very positive reviews online, very courteous and knowledgeable in his craft, great communications throughout, prompt (if not early) to job site, reliable from start to finish, the work done was as good as I expected and what was promised it would be by Don himself. In using the Deck Doctor for your deck projects, the competition can't beat his quotes, the work comes with a warranty and, I can attest to the work, they won't disappoint.

I called a few businesses for estimates on this project and was given prices way out of my budget or was told that they couldn't help me until October or my phone call was not returned at all! When I called Don, he came out the same day and gave me an estimate that was fair and reasonable. His work was phenomenal! He and his team exceeded my expectations. In addition to the porch staining, I also had some planks on my upstairs deck replaced. Don not only listened to what I wanted done, but he communicated with me through every step of the process. VERY HAPPY with his work! My porch and deck look amazing!!! He and his team are consummate professionals! Thank you Don, Ron, & Clarence!

Did a good job. We were under a time crunch so they kind of ran through the project but their work is good and the deck looks really nice.
