"Ramos and Sons, a general landscape contractor, is a local treasure. They perform a wide range of services, delivering the highest quality work at a reasonable price. They recently built a very large block retaining wall in my backyard. Hardworking and efficient, the crew made certain that every step conformed to best professional practices, and didnâ  t leave until the worksite was in perfect condition. From my personal experience I would wholeheartedly recommend this excellent company!"

"We contracted them on a handshake. They came in and removed a large area of gumbo clay, installed a solid base and the stone cutting was intricate and impressive. Within 10 days they gave us and the future owners of our home. This family of hard workers never let us down. Then they went above and beyond with follow up visits and answered questions after the installation. I had concerns about winters damage. They answered and winter came and left with zero damage and the patio is our go to place when the weather isn't offensive."

Retaining Wall Installers questions, answered by experts

Installation typically takes 1-2 weeks, depending on the wall’s size and site conditions.

Rebar is a steel support that goes inside concrete to prevent structural damage over time. Concrete is susceptible to impact, weight, and tension. By inserting rebar into the concrete during the installation, you can help extend its lifespan and avoid hazardous situations where the foundation of your home gives way to tensile forces.

With foundation walls, the slab on grade and force at the top of the wall is resisted by flooring. With retaining walls, the force at the top of the wall is not resisted.

While vinyl is the least costly material for building a retaining wall, the most cost-effective method is to use wood or concrete blocks for a DIY retaining wall under 2 feet tall. Wood is inexpensive but lasts 20 years or more with care. Concrete can cost a little more but is stronger and will last longer with less maintenance.

Depending on who you hire to build a retaining wall, the average cost, including demolition and reconstruction, for a 50-foot wall that's 4 feet in height is between $7,000 and $24,000.
