"We actually had 4 major renovations - the basement finished, master bath remodel, kitchen remodel, and garage finished. Started the projects on 6/1/2022 and finished on 7/31/2022 - amazing time frame. Projects flowed smoothly, attention to detail was awesome. All of our questions and concerns were addressed to give us the utmost comfort level to choose Aaron/Clean Edge to handle our remodeling projects. Carmella did an awesome job in keeping us updated on when to expect contractors to be in the home. There is not one thing that I would have changed in what was done, but believe me, we did change things as we moved along in the projects... added a 1/2 bath in the basement and changed the kitchen and basement counter choices. I purchased 3 hours of time for handyman service. I had a list of things that I wanted done during this time with my contact at Sound Construction. Via email, he shared with me what could be reasonably be done during the 3 hour timeframe.  We agreed that 2 exhaust fans would be replaced in two of our bathrooms.  He, also, asked me if we wanted to buy the exhaust fans or if we wanted him to buy them. Since we have no expertise in buying exhaust fans, I told him to buy them.  He indicated that the cost would be approximately $250 which was agreeable to us. I told him that I would pay him for the exhaust fans when the worker arrived to do the work. We got a follow-up email saying that the exhaust fans were more expensive that the original quote. He said that the prices had  gone up since he last purchased exhaust fans. The new  total amount would be $300 which we agreed to pay.

A  Sound Construction worker arrived on time to do the work.  He was very organized and was careful to cover my bathroom countertops before laying out his tools. He was pleasant and I was impressed with his expertise. He said that one of the exhaust fans took more time to install than he expected. While I had purchased 3 hours of time for this installation, he actually needed an additional 10 to 15 minutes to replace the two exhaust fans.  So to complete the job, he needed between 3 hours 10 mins. to 3 hours 15 mins.  He then told me that I needed to pay him for an extra hour of his time because of the additional minutes used. I asked him if I could pay him for an extra 15 minutes or 30 minutes. He indicated that I needed to pay for a full hour of his time. He said that since I had to pay for another hour of his time; I could give him additional work to do. I then asked him to do some small tasks to fill in the extra 45 minutes that I was forced to pay. All of the work that he did was very well done. My concern was about how the pricing was handled. I would have been fine with paying for an additional 15 mins. or even 30 mins. I felt ripped off being asked to pay for an extra hour.

When it came time to pay him, I asked him for the sales receipt for the exhaust fans. He said that he did not have the sales receipt but that I owed him the $300. Who charges customers for materials and doesn't have a receipt to document the costs!!! I was shocked and angry. Plus, he said that I owed him additional dollars for materials that he needed to do the work that was not included in the amount quoted in the Angie's list deal. Therefore, I had to pay him $414.00. This was $114.00 more than I had expected to pay. I resented paying for the extra full hour of time, the additional money for his materials and the fact that he had no sales receipt for the exhaust fans. I will not use them again for any services.

Overall we are very satisfied with the work. It didn't take long for John to review our initial drawings and issue a quote and get the job scheduled. Between the time we scheduled the job and when work actually began we made some changes to the plans and John and his guys were able to accommodate. They also found some relatively shoddy workmanship from the builders of our townhome and did their best to point out areas that needed attention. The initial demo and framing went very well and moved quickly. After demo and framing there were times when communication wasn't the best and there were many days when work wasn't done and we weren't kept up to date on the schedule, which I understand is very typical for this type of job and not unique to John and his guys. I do wish he would have used a different electrician. He was pretty messy and rarely showed up and we still have some minor flickering with the lights in our master bedroom. The finishes are excellent and John's tile work was very good. The custom vanity they built for our master is excellent and it's fits perfectly. The shower glass is just what we wanted. Overall I was vey happy with the outcome despite some minor frustrations with the process. I would definitely call John again for other major jobs.

"Overall our experience with Idea was very good, but we did have a few hiccups along the way that should have been prevented.? For example, there was a overwrite issue while two architects were working on the same set of plans which resulted in some confusion during the building and bid processes.? Peter did meet and sometimes exceeded our expectations for our very tight schedule while staying on budget for the most part.? Peter was very helpful in resolving issues with contractors and other issues that came up on the building site.?Ideas' pricing for our project was very competitive although not the lowest bid we received.? A coordination error between architects resulted in a number of lost modifications that were not caught until the bid process was completed and building had begun.? As a result the contractors required additional fees beyond the original bid to accommodate these changes.? Additionally, our project was selected for a random audit by the city. The city found a few items that required changes in the plans which required a second permitting and zone process to be completed. Peter was always quick to respond to emails and phone calls throughout the process. Peter was always very punctual and generally well organized. During the audit process we were looped into the process far more than we should have been resulting in increased stress for us.? We later learned that the audit was check of the architect's self-permitting status and was not intended to delay or disrupt the progress of our project.? Unfortunately, Peter did not convey this to us in a clear manner and cause quite a bit of additional stress surrounding our project.? It was also a bit irritating that we were billed for time that Peter and his team spend on this audit.? The audit increased our overall architectural fees by approximately $2,000."

"This is my second project with Fil and Thor Build. The idea to construct a mezzanine was something that I had envisioned when I first saw my condo. I showed Fil my ideas on paper along with photos of how I wanted everything to look. Fil ran with it and brought it to fruition. Everything turned out even better than how I had envisioned. During the project, I requested some modifications which Fil gladly accommodated; he even created a custom door for me that is absolutely stunning - the quality work of artisans! To top it all off, this project was completed while I was 600 miles away. I had to rely strictly on photos and good communication. I had tons of questions during the construction phase and I'm sure I must've drove Fil crazy at times. However he was always professional and answered all of my questions and addressed any concerns that I had. I can't say enough about Thor Build, they are my go-to contractor and I am so fortunate to have found them."

"Tom from TKL responded quickly to my initial phone call. We set a date to measure and answer any questions. He was prompt and let me know right from the start there would be an up charge for what I wanted done. I knew what I wanted would not be included in the original Angie's list deal. Having received prior estimates I knew this was still a good value and we proceeded. Once a date was set up for service he was punctual and set to work right away. He was very professional and worked straight through on each occasion. There was more than one because he had to wait for work to dry. I thought Tom from TKL was professional, hard working and fairly priced. I was really happy with the work he did and plan on using him on my next home improvement project!

"We need a custom, not basic standard, garage in order to meet tight requirements of our lot and driveway and it will still need city variances for permits. I gave details through an Angie's List request for quote, but they got the wrong phone number, so I sent a correction also through AL, but then didn't hear back. So I sent a detailed email directly to the company. Still didn't hear back, so I finally called. They aren't able to do the custom job we need. I wish they had just responded earlier with that information so I didn't waste time trying to contact them again. I hate to downgrade the company for only the initial attempts to reach them since it doesn't really say anything about the work that they do, but they did have more than one opportunity to simply say that they couldn't do the kind of work we needed."
