"Jim and his crew did a FANTASTIC job of completely remodeling my two kitchens and bathrooms in my two flat building. These projects included beautiful new cabinets and counter tops ,lighting, electrical outlets, plumbing and flooring. These were complete remodels and they are beautiful and functional. The work was completed on time as scheduled at a fair price. Jim has done many other jobs for me throughout the years including all new windows and all of his work has been excellent grade A work. I would highly recommend him for all your remodeling needs."

"We recently hired New Expectation Remodeling LLC to renovate our basement office and were thoroughly impressed by their quality and attention to detail. We recommend them and are already planning future projects with their team. Key Highlights: Estimation: The process was seamless; Stephen provided a competitive estimate one day after our initial meeting. Communication: Was very good. We spent time aligning expectations via email before the start, ensuring alignment and a smooth project. Professionalism: The team was punctual and showed visible progress every day. They also cleanup the workspace nightly. Reliability & Quality: Although the project took slightly longer than estimated, the results were worth the wait. When we identified a couple issues, they returned to make the necessary corrections. It is a great feeling to have a contractor you can trust. We look forward to working with them again!"

Basement Remodel questions, answered by experts

If you don’t have a crawl space but have a partial basement you want to make deeper, you can expect to spend a little less—between $40,000 and $90,000 on average. However, if you’re not adding new finished square footage, you won’t see much in the way of ROI.

Egress windows or doors are required in finished basements to meet safety and building codes. If your basement is unfinished and used as a storage space, egress windows are not required, but anything considered a habitable space must have an additional point of egress in addition to the stairs.

Yes, you can add a kitchenette to a basement. However, you’ll have to consider the costs associated with basement kitchenettes. If you’re starting from scratch in an unfinished basement, you’ll need to account for brand-new plumbing, electrical, flooring, and more in addition to the cost of the kitchenette. If you’re putting a kitchenette in an already finished basement equipped with plumbing and electrical, you’ll save considerable money.

A finished basement must have a heat and electrical supply with an entrance that meets building code requirements, such as a stairwell to the home's main living space. It often must include finished walls, ceilings, and floors. If the finished basement includes a bedroom, it should have a heat source, an egress window, and a closet.

Remodeling, as opposed to finishing, means altering an already finished basement by adding a bathroom, bedroom, or living area.

Basements are commonly converted into game rooms. The potential challenges you may run into include controlling moisture, working with low ceilings, limited natural light, and the need for additional electrical or HVAC work. Addressing these issues can add to the total cost, but it ensures a comfortable and functional space.
