"Our roof was damaged by hail in May 2019. The first contractor we hired could not get enough coverage from our insurance company to repair our cedar roof and they did not tell us until a few months later. In the spring of 2020, we hired a second contractor who did not do anything substantive for a couple of months (still do not know what happened to them) after we signed the contract with them. So we canceled the contract and moved on. People always say the third time is a charm and it really was! When we met the Shake Guys, things started to change. Ryan did a survey of our roof and submitted an estimate to Allstate. Using his professional knowledge and patience, he got us enough money to repair the damage and almost enough to replace the entire roof. This was completely unexpected and we were totally thrilled. After some careful consideration, due to the level of maintenance required and the associated costs, we eventually decided to switch to an asphalt roof and the Shake Guys price is competitive amongst the bids we have received. We were so ready to hire them to finish the roof job. However, at the time, they had quite a few cedar roof projects scheduled and did not have time to work on our project until a couple of months later which would be November. The weather will get very cold in Chicago in November and not suitable for roofing projects anymore. Ryan suggested that we use a different contractor if we wanted to get the project done in 2020 and offered to help review the proposal to make sure we are in good hands. And he did a very comprehensive review and let us know which brand we should use for each part of the job. We really could not say enough to thank him, not just for helping us get enough coverage from Allstate, but also for helping us select the contractor so we do not have to worry about our roof in the future.
