Customers say: True professional

"We have a house that is almost 100 years old that we are updating a bit more each year. R & B Remodelimg was able to handle our numerous projects. We needed exterior doors installed, old sidewalks ripped out and new ones put in, a new expanded front porch built, tile work in the entryway and the bathroom received a much needed refresh. Grant and Chris were great to work with. They did the job well at a reasonable price. We would definitely use them again."

"Great company to deal with, said they would show up on time, and they did both the saleman and the Shower installer, the installer was very professinal, knew his business. Tore out the old tub/ shower combo, installed the new walk in shower in a timely manner, and was very pleasant individual."

Backsplash Installation questions, answered by experts

Like glass tiles, you will not need to seal most porcelain tiles, particularly if the porcelain is already glazed. It depends on quality. Porcelain is very water resistant, but it is not 100% waterproof. To avoid staining, some homeowners use a penetrating sealer. It is also a good idea to seal your grout. Unless you use epoxy grout, grout is very porous and can harbor bacteria, mold, and mildew.

The difference between floor and wall tiles is that floor tiles generally have higher strength and porosity ratings than wall tiles. Wall tiles are typically weaker and more likely to crack or become damaged under sustained pressure like high foot traffic.

For this reason, avoid using wall tiles on floors and vice versa.

Yes, but you should only put tile directly on drywall in smaller areas that don’t experience excess moisture. For example, a small kitchen tile backsplash could work, but installing tile directly on the drywall in a bathroom or other chronically damp area is not a good idea. Either way, a cement backer board is a far more reliable solution, as drywall is susceptible to moisture and can warp or cause your tiles to crack.

Travertine is a natural stone, while porcelain is ceramic. You can enjoy the best of both worlds with porcelain travertine tiles. Some people prefer porcelain to travertine because it doesn’t require regular maintenance and it’s easier to clean. Porcelain travertine looks like the real thing but only costs $3 to $6 per square foot.

Add a T-shaped spacer to each corner of a tile when placing it. You’ll want to nudge the tiles closer together so the spacers are touching each corner. When you’re done installing your tile, you can remove each spacer, wash them, and use them for your next project.
