This guy obviously doesn't need the work.  He basically put me off and never contacted me again.

He seemed very likeable and professional to begin with. Said he was busy but would work us in on the weekends as he really wanted to do the job. He ordered the supplies and had them delivered within the week. We payed for them. The stuff sat in front of our house for two weeks. He finally started, coming on a Sunday, arriving to start work at 10am. Porch faces west, which my husband warned him it gets hot in afternoon. So, he only worked til about 2 because it got too hot. Then we had some really hot humid weather, so he couldn't work at all. It took him nearly two months to finally get it finished. Only came on Sundays til the end. Said he would work every day til finished------well he worked one, skipped two then one, skip one and then finished up. I would not consider him a professional at all. A professional does not leave his tools and equipment here and ask us to charge his batteries so they are ready when he returns. Never knew for sure when he was returning. A professional does not become upset because you do not wish him to use your restroom. A professional knows what he needs for the job and has it with him. He had to leave to get sponges to wipe off grout. Also he wanted to borrow towels for the same purpose and then wanted me to wash them so he could reuse them. That to me is not a professional. To top it all, he did the worst tile job I have ever seen. Anybody that has seen it has said the same thing. Tiles are uneven, big grout gaps, little or nonexistent gaps. AND.....he added something to the grout besides water and did not get it wiped off the tiles in time. There is grout on the tiles that won't come off and now we must hire someone to try to fix it. It is the sloppiest grout job we have ever seen. I would never recommend him to anybody. I guess this is all for naught because he is moving from the area. I wish his reviews could follow him so other people could be warned. The only thing this does is make me feel better for having told someone.

He made mistakes and I had to hire someone to fix them.  He did not clean up after himself at the end of the day.  He made verbal threats to the resident.

"We are in shock at this customer review. The customers live in CO and we met with them at the rental property after the completion of the tile floor in the kitchen (had to rip up two floors underneath and place new subfloor) and other work performed and they were so impressed that they asked us to do additional work at this rental property including tiling of the upstairs bath.. The renter was extremely sick that day and we got sick as well and had to be on antibiotics. We removed ourselves from the work site for several days to give the tenant as well as us time to recover from the illness and went back to remove and install a patio door. There were carpenter ants and had wood damage to the floor that was exposed when we removed the old patio door. We had to rebuild the foundation and the flooring to place the new patio door which had to be special ordered. When returning to complete the installation of the patio door, the tenant met us at the door with his fists clenched and demanded we leave his property and was tired of having his place messed up. We were not allowed to complete installation of the patio door so yes, the door was not installed as it was not completed. The door was temporarily placed so as not to leave a hole in the wall and allow the outside elements to impact the tenant and his asthma problems. Renovation no matter how you try to clean and for anyone planning renovation should take note of this. Renovation and tear out is a very dirty process in your living space. We try our best to clean up the area as best we can. We place all material to be removed in an area designated by the customer and it is their responsibility to have the debris removed. This is explained to the customer at the beginning of the job. This is the property owners responsibility to inform the tenant of this. We are alarmed that ANYONE can make as serious a claim as threatening someone without any validation or substantiation. The tenant asked us not to say anything referencing God while there, we respected this. The tenant didn't like that we were of a different political party and was constantly making fun of us for this and we were respectful and told him he was entitled to his opinion and that is what America is all about. There DEFINITELY was no threat on our part except to demand our right to remove our tools on the property in which the response was to hurry up or else. We feel terrible when we cannot come to an understanding with a customer regarding the work we have contracted to do for them and in this particular case being they live in CO it was challenging to do the work between the tenant and the customer. We do agree that they had to hire someone else to complete the work since the patio door installation was not completed by us. However, we have done ceramic tile work for many years and our prior customers can attest to the beauty of our work. We do not understand the need for this customer to lie and spread serious allegations to slander our company. This is a blatant fabrication and we take exception to this comment. In reading the reviews regarding Angies list, we do not seem to be the only contractors that have fallen a victim of this heinous behavior from a customer due to their non satisfaction. We are in the process of uploading pictures of our work and you can be the judge."

Response from Carmar Remodeling & Handyman Services

"This caller wanted the work done now and it was explained to her that we would work her in during the month. This was not satisfactory to her and said she would find someone else. We have worked diligently with the handicapped and the disabled for many years and would never discriminate against a person for any reason. We were not able to accommodate this customer because when I asked her when she wanted the work done she stated she wanted it done "now" and it was explained that we were busy with other committments and we would work her in during the month and this was not satisfactory. Her comment was that she would call someone else. No mention was made at any time related to her being disabled."

The flooring turned out really well. He did a real good job.  He did go a little over the estimated price of $650.00 it was a little over $775.00. He went around the tile with trim did not leave room for vanity to slide in or the trim on the doors.

"[Member's name removed] had extreme flood damage in their home. Everything had been removed in the bathroom prior to our coming to speak with them. They were doing all the installs themselves. The estimates they had received were approx. $900.00 per the customer and it was priced for linoleum flooring. The customer made additional requests of work that increased the original estimate. The customer wanted the additional work and a price was agree upon. The customer had several call backs and we made several additional trips to their home and took care of all their issues at no additional charge to them until their job was complete to their satisfaction. At this time the customer stated she felt we shouldn’t have charged her for the additional work on her kitchen tile and black mold. She was upset that we did not refund the agreed upon charge and changed our rating from an A to a D then a C. I can honestly say that we as a company did all we could to make this customer happy. When we left the first time when the original rating was given she was happy. We do not like being threatened with hurting our reputation if we don’t do it her way scenario. When we would not consent, she tried to do just that."

Carl came and surveyed the situation and assured me that he could repair the damaged areas of my sheet vinyl flooring with the extra material that I had on hand. He asked for a down payment of 10% and then went to pick up the materials needed to repair the floor. He returned the next day and did a great job of removing the damaged areas and replacing them with an exact fit with pieces he cut out from my extra material. After gluing them in, you could not see where he had done the work. It looked perfect. It had to set for 24 hours. He came back the next day and sealed the seams. Again, it takes 24 hours to set. He came back on the third day and removed my rubber floor molding. It was tricky as I have wallpaper butting the molding. He removed the old molding without any damage to the wallpaper. I was extremely happy about that. He then purchased the wood replacement moldings and did a very good job on installing it. I was very pleased with his work. He has all the tools and talent to probably handle any job needed around the house. I am thinking of hiring him to refinish my living room hardwood floors in the spring.
