"We recently had insulation work done by commandos Insulation and the entire experience was excellent from start to finish. The team was professional, punctual, and very knowledgeable. They explained the process clearly, completed the job efficiently, and left everything clean afterward. Their attention to detail and customer service really stood out. "This Company Rocks, they in detail explained everything to me so I knew what to expect the day of Install, gave wonderful information on how to make my own decision on the choices of insulation with no pushing onto something I did not think I might choose, thorough in cleaning up the sight and showing me the before and after photos they took, I will recommend them to everyone I know."

"Decide to convert garage into "man cave". Planned out the job with Paul, which required framing, insulation, drywall, and paint. Work was completed on time and on budget. Paul was courteous, professional, and communicates well."

Drywall Insulation questions, answered by experts

Yes, any parts of drywall that are wet or overly moist will need to be replaced. Drywall is intended to be dry (it’s in the name, after all.), as excess moisture can lead to mold and mildew and eventually corrode your home’s foundational building pieces. Do regular inspections in your home to make sure all your plumbing is intact and in good condition—this will go a long way toward preventing leaks.

This depends on how much plaster is applied and in how many layers, but a decent estimate is around 150 square feet. If you are applying only two coats on a small wall, there is a chance you may only need one or two gallons for the entire project. If you are plastering a large living room wall with high ceilings, using one of the more involved techniques–like Scagliola–that requires several coats, expect the project materials costs to add up quickly.

Choose a drill bit that is the size of the screws of the anchors you will use. You aren’t drilling through metal or concrete—hopefully—so any standard twist, wooden or all-purpose drill bit will work fine. It’s also important to have a screwdriver capable of drilling through the drywall and into the stud. The good news is most available drills, even the older ones, can do this with no issue.

Whether you apply the drywall mesh before or after drywall mud depends on the type of patch it is. For self-adhesive patches, you’ll put the patch down first and then coat it with mud. Mesh patches that are not self-adhesive will require you to put mud down first and then press the mesh into it, followed by additional coats of mud.

Textured walls are a great way to hide imperfections left over by drywall installation, but many homeowners feel like it’s an outdated look, despite there being so many types of drywall texture. And while the textured walls of today are a far cry from the popcorn ceilings and faux stucco of our grandmother’s homes, if you want a more modern look or you want to install wallpaper, it’s time to smooth out your walls.
