"Michael at Equity Builders was wonderful to work with. I called to get a quote on a new roof (he is a General Contractor) on 2 8x16 barn sheds. He contacted me in just a couple of hours of me requesting a quote on Angi. I text him pictures, he text me back within a couple of hours with a quote. Michael came back with a very reasonable quote and was at our place within 4 days to do the work...working around weather. (it's spring) My roofs were 27 years old...and Michaels even found shingles that came close to matching another roof we had. When his team left, not only was my roofs done very well, but the place around the barn sheds was spotless...you have never known they were there. Great Job! I'll be calling him in the future for some other projects."

"Donavan did an outstanding job on our basement remodel. Took an open concrete room and turned it into our favorite place to spend time in our home. Everything he does you can see how much effort is put into perfection of even the smallest details. Rest assured, we will hire Affordable Remodels again for our next home upgrade whatever that may be!"

"This was my second time to use Vision Built. The first was a bathroom repair/rebuilt for a rental property I own, I was so satisfied with the work done there that I hired the company to lay a colored concrete pad in the backyard at my personal home. The pad is beautiful. I love the color and size. The concrete was done within several hours and the brush work is excellent. Martin's team does perfection. Thank you so much."

Barndominium Builders questions, answered by experts

The lifespan of a barn is typically 40 to 60 years, but with skillful construction and proper maintenance, it can last up to 100 years. The actual lifespan depends on several factors, including the barn type, materials, usage, and climate. For example, the posts of a pole barn should last 50 years or longer, but if the structure is used for livestock in a rainy climate, it may rot within the first decade. Custom designs with high-end materials tend to last the longest. To get the best estimate for your barn's lifespan, you should consider its material type and intended use.

It may be tempting to DIY the construction of a swing set to save money, but we don’t recommend it. Since children will use the swing set, the entire system must be solid and safe, meaning the cost savings aren’t worth potentially endangering them. Plus, most DIYers will have to build their swing sets out of wood, which won’t last as long as metal or vinyl and introduces the risk of splinters. Instead, hire a local playground equipment installer to ensure the swing set is built safely and efficiently, setting up your kids for fun for years to come.

There's no simple answer to which is less costly: wood or metal-framed homes. In most cases, metal building components cost more than wooden ones, while entire metal buildings cost less than wooden versions. However, regardless of the exterior framing or structure, each must meet similar building codes. This means that the costs are about the same, even considering that wood will require more maintenance than metal over time.

The best lumber for building will be the strongest and most eco-friendly wood your budget allows. That being said, Douglas fir, pine, oak, and maple are all common building materials. Contractors will use a strong, inexpensive wood to frame a house or other structure and finer woods like mahogany for detail work.

Generally speaking, building a swing set is cheaper than buying a prefabricated one, but this assumes you have all the tools and knowledge to complete the project. The average cost to build a swing set is $514, but you should also factor in the time and effort it will require—if you don’t want to give up your weekend, it’s worth considering buying instead of building.
