He got to work on the honey do list ive had for my husband for the past 5 years or so and finished in roughly 6 hours. His pricing was extremely fair. He was careful to not damage my home while working and carrying supplies and materials and he cleaning up during and after his work. "CAUTION - when relying on Issac We needed our chimney rebuilt. Issac estimated it and finally we received a starting date. After, working an hour he said the job was too big for him. (some damage to our metal pieces). We request that he would paint it after we find another handyman. Once done he came back and quoted over $100 an hour to paint the chimney. He kept push us out on his calendar. We dropped him. He had us paid for the hour that he worked on the Chimney before exiting. Very poor communication if we are scheduled? If he is starting on the day he last told us? Problem answering texts."

A combination deglosser and cleaner can help minimize the amount of sanding necessary when painting laminate cabinets and other surfaces. Deglosser is excellent for use on heavily detailed surfaces where sandpaper can't reach evenly or at all. While some DIYers prefer to use only deglosser when painting cabinets, using sandpaper when possible saves money, and some deglossers may not work as well on laminate surfaces.

If you don’t want to sand your bathroom cabinets before painting, it’s possible to make it work. However, sanding the cabinets for a long-lasting paint job is always best. Make sure your cabinets are in good shape, choose high-quality paint, and use a deglosser. The deglosser strips the paint, varnish, or stain from the cabinets to give you a clean slate to work from.

Small to medium-sized cabinetry typically takes three to five days, whereas large cabinetry takes around seven days. The complete process includes:

  • Removing cabinet doors, drawers, and hardware.

  • Removing the existing stain or paint.

  • Sanding cabinet frames, doors, and drawers.

  • Staining each side of the cabinetry one at a time. You’ll have to wait for the first side to dry before staining the other side.

  • Waiting for the doors, drawers, and frames to dry fully.

  • Reattaching hardware and hinges.

  • Putting the doors and drawers back on the cabinet boxes.

Although it’s not always necessary, it’s a good idea to use primer, especially if you choose to paint over an old layer of paint without sanding. Primer helps the new paint successfully bond with the surface, and it can even help hide darker paint colors so you need fewer layers to switch to a lighter color.
