"We ordered a pattern with veining. The product we received had the proper veining on the counter surface, but faded streaks (that did not look at all like veins) in the basin. The company insisted that that is the result of their production process and not a defect and therefore the customer must accept it. Anyone who has seen this product has agreed that they would not install it. The company would not issue a replacement or refund. Very disappointing."

Be sure to check the manufacturer’s weight rating for your specific drawer slides.

You can install a range hood and use the vent to protect your kitchen cabinets from heat and steam from the stovetop. For added heat protection, homeowners can install metal heat shields to exposed sections of the cabinets. It is also essential to keep cabinet surfaces clean by removing any grease buildup that can cause a fire.

It is much more cost-effective to purchase semi-custom and stock cabinets than to build custom cabinets. You’ll pay between $500 and $1,200 per linear foot for custom cabinets, $100 to $650 per linear foot for semi-custom, and $100 to $300 per linear foot for stock cabinets. However, stock cabinets don’t allow you to customize cabinetry for an odd-shaped room or one with high ceilings.

Common options include solid wood, plywood, and MDF. Choose based on durability and budget.

For most purposes, you should go with wood that’s at least 3/4-inch thick for DIY closet shelves. This is the standard thickness for solid wood or MDF shelving and should be able to hold a good amount of weight (around 80 pounds for MDF and 130 pounds for plywood). If you’re storing tools, camera equipment, or other heavier items, you can go up to 1 1/4-inch thickness for maximum strength and durability.
