"Found Sentri on Angi. Jeanette and Violet were very pleasant and efficient in getting a contractor to me in the time frame needed. The contractor was excellent and the roof looks great! I would definitely work with them again if I had additional projects."

"I had a 700 sq ft porch enclosed and wanted it insulated with closed cell foam, at less than an ideal time of the year to spray due to cold temperatures and moisture concerns. The crew that arrived, at a last minute request by me was on time, and extremely helpful in getting the project done on time and with the utmost of quality in mind. The crew was extremely efficient and answered all of my questions thoroughly. They did a fantastic job at a reasonable price, and the price we agreed to without them ever having laid eyes on the project before they arrived. The rest of my home is insulated with closed cell foam installed by a different contractor, but this company hands down did a much higher quality job, installing the product of my preference, and at the agreed upon price. I am extremely satisfied with their performance and would highly recommend Hawkeye Enterprises to anyone for their spray foam insulation needs."

Roofing questions, answered by experts

Unlike wood decks, Trex decking doesn’t warp. That’s one of the key benefits of installing this decking material. Over time, common issues with these decks include hard water stains, mold or mildew growth, and stains from food spills. Thankfully, with proper cleaning, you can get rid of most stains and mold.

No, you can’t use your home’s square footage. You have to calculate your roof’s square footage, and then you may have to convert your square footage measurement to correspond with how the roofing material is measured. For instance, some roofing is sold in “squares,” which equals the total square footage of the roof divided by 100. Shingles are sold in bundles that may not correspond to the number of squares you need. Metal roofing is sold as sheets, so determine the amount of square feet each panel will cover and then divide the total square footage by the coverage area.

The installation may have been done correctly. However, improperly installed gutter guards can easily damage your shingles. Also, cheap gutter guards rarely come with installation fixtures. In the worst cases, they simply ask you to nail the guards in, which would sabotage your roof’s water resistance and thus void the warranty. To be sure, always check with your home warranty provider before making any modifications.

Metal roofs have a reputation for being noisy, but with proper installation and adequate insulation, they are not significantly noisier than shingle roofs. The type of metal used can affect the sound level; for instance, steel roofs are typically noisier than slate or asphalt tiles but quieter than aluminum. While some people find the sound of rain on a metal roof pleasant, you can take steps to reduce the noise. Installing a thicker underlayment, adding insulation between the roof and the house, or using acoustic tiles can effectively muffle the sound. The gauge (thickness) of the metal roofing can also contribute to sound dampening.

While you don’t have to let roofers inside your home, it is proper etiquette to offer the use of your restrooms. And if it’s a hot day, it’s polite to invite the roofers into your house to cool off and have a chilled drink.
