"The problem turned out to be a burned out small electric door switch. I believe the price was way too expensive for the service performed and the price of the door switch. What more can I say? It got done."

"They were great to work with. Dana completely understood my project and sent me a very fair bid the next day. The work was completed the following week, exactly as promised. Dean and AJ were great; very knowledgeable and friendly. I will definitely call Jensen with future electrical needs."

"This company is obviously nationwide and hires local contractors.  I trusted Agies List that all contractors are licensed, bonded and have background checks.  This person was a handyman and not qualified to wall mount, conceal wires, add electrical outlet.  He  spend five hours in my home, for a job that should have taken two hours and left the area in a disaster.  The TV was hung close to the ceiling, the wires were hanging down from the TV, and the receiver was sitting on top of a plaster box because the cord was too short.  He was obviously not qualified to install TV wall mounts.  I have photos.    As soon as he left, I called Best Buy Geek Squad.  They were able to come out the next day and mount the TV professionally.  I have used the geek squad in Virginia and they are highly qualified.  They charge more than this nationwide company but you get what you pay for.  I called Angies List the day after the disaster and said i did not want to rate this company but I wanted to talk to a manager. No one called me to apologize. I have cancelled my membership.  Do not use this company unless you can be assured that the local contractor is qualified and is licensed.  You should never let anyone into your home that has not had background checks.

"I just pay $75 you never know who's going to come out. They do everything electrical. Just about everything is covered except the septic tank. I had an air conditioner replaced. It went great, all I had to do was pay for the freon. He didn't charge e more than what was needed."

"There were many things wrong in my computer (my fault and letting grandchildren on computer) Robert was so helpful, gave me many good instructions to keep everything safe, which I have written down, feel like I have a new computer. He was so excellent and experienced, took his time and was meticulous about what needed to be done. He was a pleasure to work with and I will use this company again! Linda Disy"

Electrical questions, answered by experts

Electrical maintenance in Centerville should include scheduling annual inspections to address issues caused by temperature swings and humidity. Test GFCI outlets monthly, especially during damp summer months, and have your electrical panel checked every few years for signs of corrosion. Before winter, ensure all outdoor wiring and fixtures are weather-sealed. If you rely on a generator, run a test each season to confirm it’s ready for rural outages.

Helpful?

Upgrading electrical systems in Centerville can make your home more appealing to buyers, especially if your property is older. Modernizing wiring and increasing panel capacity supports today’s appliances and technology. Adding whole-home surge protection or a backup generator is particularly attractive in Centerville, where storms are common. Buyers also appreciate documented upgrades that show your home meets current electrical safety standards.

Helpful?

Centerville’s climate, with its hot, humid summers and cold winters, affects electrical installations significantly. Seasonal temperature shifts can cause wires to expand and contract, making secure connections essential. Humidity increases the risk of corrosion, so moisture-resistant materials are recommended. Frequent thunderstorms and tornado threats highlight the importance of surge protection and reliable backup power. Wet springs and clay-heavy soil also influence grounding and panel placement.

Helpful?

In Centerville, homeowners sometimes overlook the need for permits, which can complicate future sales or insurance claims. Skipping weatherproofing on outdoor outlets or fixtures often leads to moisture damage. Many underestimate the power required for new HVAC systems or outbuildings, and improper grounding is a frequent issue due to the region’s clay soil. Failing to address basement moisture protection is another common oversight in IA homes.

Helpful?

Homeowners in Centerville may encounter unexpected costs such as permit fees or specialized grounding solutions for clay soil. Older homes often require remediation for outdated wiring or hazardous materials like asbestos. Upgrading an electrical panel could involve structural adjustments, while rural properties might need trenching for new service lines. Storm-related emergency repairs and additional GFCI outlets to meet updated codes can also increase project scope.
