Customers say: True professional

"It took a while to get on their schedule, but once I did, they did an amazing job. They turned my ugly house into a beautiful one. They did a great job patching and installing most of the house’s drywall and painted it. They also installed all my interior doors. Finally, they painted the interior. All for a very reasonable price. So much so that I’ve hired them to install a deck."

"Ivan was great to work with. He understood what we needed and helped the crews understand whenever there was an issue. We began with the siding and deck/stairs. The stairs needed some adjustments to be done to our satisfaction. The crew was accommodating to our changes, though there was a bit of a language barrier. We would be happy to use Make a Choice again if needed"

"Overall a great job at a fair price. Out six companies providing quotes, they won the business. Four other company quotes were thrown out for one being very low (half as much), and one for being very high (almost double), and two for no insurance. In the end, between two companies, Eagle got the business due to the reviews on Angie's List, and the discussion with Steve during the initial walk through for quote, and subsequent detailed quote covering all items discussed. The paint crew was on time every day. Crew leader Bobby was very organized, and worked with us on our ever changing order of rooms to paint, as furniture was moved from room to room, while considering the dogs & cat that were inside. All of the crew were genuinely nice guys, considerate of our belongings, and the most important they were good painters. Straight lines along walls to ceiling, and around the stained wood trim through out the house. Extensive drywall patching was required in garage, and now it looks great. We look forward to having them come back, once our unfinished basement if completed later this year."

"Lake City made everything so easy for me. Lacey and Marlon were so informative. I definitely learned a lot as well. Even when anxiety started to creep in with me being out of town for work during the project, they were able to keep me calm and convinced me to trust the process. Being able to track the progress in real time helped a lot with doing so. And in the end I couldn’t be happier. I can’t wait to for them to take on our next project! Months later and the house still looks like it got painted yesterday. I am obsessed with the final outcome and highly recommend Lake City!"

Deck Staining questions, answered by experts

Yes, pressure-treated wood can occasionally turn green due to certain preservatives, such as copper-based chemicals, used during the treatment process. These chemicals react with the wood, creating a greenish tint. The good news? It's temporary, and the color will fade over time. Staining or painting can also help hide any unwanted hues.

An exterior paint job typically lasts between 5 and 10 years, though this can range from 3 to 17 years depending on several factors. The longevity is influenced by the quality of the paint and primer, the quality of the application, the local climate, and the type of surface being painted. For example, paint on wood siding may need to be redone every 3 to 7 years, while painted brick can last up to 17 years. Aluminum siding often needs repainting every 5 years.

It is not always necessary to remove old stain before restaining a deck. If the previous stain is in good condition and is compatible with the new stain, you may be able to apply a new coat after thorough cleaning. However, if the old stain is in bad condition, flaking, or peeling, it is best to remove it completely to ensure an even surface and proper adhesion for the new coat. Staining over a damaged layer can lead to an uneven finish and poor penetration. For best results, test a small area first and consult the stain manufacturer's guidelines.

When applying multiple coats, wait four to six hours for each coat to dry. Not waiting long enough can result in streaks, peeling, and uneven color. Plus, it will be more difficult to discern where the second coat has already been applied.

You don’t necessarily have to remove all the old paint before repainting your deck, but it’s best to remove as much as possible to ensure a smooth and long-lasting finish. Prioritize scraping off loose, peeling, or flaking paint, and sand down rough areas to create a smooth surface for the new paint to bond with.
