"Terri was the first to answer my calls and the first to give a quote. Her price was not the lowest but worth it. She did a professional job with quality paint. There's very little leftover paint, so she planned it perfectly. Terri and her employee Lino did all of the edging freehand and quickly. No blue tape! A couple of things needed to be changed along the way and they were completed as requested. I recommend Terri for any painting jobs!

""Choose This Company"- My wife and I searched extensively for a company that could handle our renovation project. We met with 8 local companies for a "one-stop-shop" experience for siding, painting, roof, windows, gutters, deck, and general carpentry. After vetting all our contractors, based on professionalism, communication, timeliness, salesmanship, and other customer reviews and factors, it was clear that the right choice for us was Ivan Franco and his amazing team. From the initial meeting with Ivan, both my wife and I were overwhelmingly impressed with his dedication to our project and his willingness to accommodate my OCD. All of this without sacrificing the quality of results that he promised. Although Ivan is a very busy man, he made us feel like we were his only customers, and that meant a lot to us. Ivan called us daily to update his progress and kept our minds at ease during this stressful time. We could not be more thrilled with Make-A-Choice and we would encourage you to give them a chance for your next project. Additionally, we are buying our first investment property this summer and we are excited that we have already found our contractor for that project as well!! Please feel free to email me directly should you have any questions about my experience with Make-A-Choice or Ivan Franco. In my opinion, Make-A-Choice is the Only Choice!!"

"Overall a great job at a fair price. Out six companies providing quotes, they won the business. Four other company quotes were thrown out for one being very low (half as much), and one for being very high (almost double), and two for no insurance. In the end, between two companies, Eagle got the business due to the reviews on Angie's List, and the discussion with Steve during the initial walk through for quote, and subsequent detailed quote covering all items discussed. The paint crew was on time every day. Crew leader Bobby was very organized, and worked with us on our ever changing order of rooms to paint, as furniture was moved from room to room, while considering the dogs & cat that were inside. All of the crew were genuinely nice guys, considerate of our belongings, and the most important they were good painters. Straight lines along walls to ceiling, and around the stained wood trim through out the house. Extensive drywall patching was required in garage, and now it looks great. We look forward to having them come back, once our unfinished basement if completed later this year."

"After we got our schedules in sync, Jason and his group did an amazing job. Removed the old gutters and downspouts, fixed some water damaged facia. Cleaned up and it looks fantastic. Worth the time and money. Will recommend them to my friends and neighbors."

"We had a wonderful experience with Five Start from start to finish with having our garage floor prepped and finished with epoxy coating and garage walls painted. All calls and emails were answered promptly and employees made sure any questions were answered and followed up with us throughout the project. Everything was done in a timely manner and we had complete confidence that we would be pleased with the finished product. This company follows the work ethics of my parents and grandparents-top notch."

"360 Painting of Kennesaw did awesome work on the exterior of my home. Definitely made it standout. I was impressed from the start by the detailed quote in which the owner provided that included pictures and price breakdowns for every area for which the work was to be completed. I had gotten so many quotes from other companies that would leave you wondering or have confusion about what is getting done. Everything was clearly mapped out by this company and the work exceeded my expectations. The entire exterior of my home was pressure washed, repaired, and painted. That also included my deck and pergola. Thanks Spencer, Niki, and your amazing crew. ð The 1st pic shows the before and after for the front and the remaining pictures are the finished product from the back."

"Doug did a great job. Put together two, all-wood dressers in a couple of hours that would have taken me probably two days to complete. The price was fair and extremely happy with the outcome."

Deck Staining questions, answered by experts

You can apply stain over peeling stain, but it’s not a good idea. Your old stain will get in the way of your new stain bonding to the wood, so you’re likely going to see the same issue again shortly after application. Your best option is to sand off the old stain and clean the surface thoroughly before applying new stain.

Limewash and whitewash are two techniques used to give brick a light, matte finish, but they differ in composition, application, and permanence. The best choice depends on your aesthetic goals and the specific surface.

Composition

  • Limewash: A natural and environmentally friendly option made from limestone, water, and sometimes pigments. It is breathable and soaks into porous surfaces like brick.

  • Whitewash: Traditionally made from lime, water, chalk, and binders, but a similar look can be achieved with watered-down white paint. It is paint-based and sits on top of the surface.

Appearance and Finish

  • Limewash: Provides a natural, textured appearance that allows the brick's character to show through. It offers a more traditional finish.

  • Whitewash: Creates a softer, more opaque finish, often used for a rustic or shabby-chic style.

Application and Permanence

  • Limewash: Is semi-permanent and can be removed, making it a good choice if you might want to change the look in the future. It requires more skill to apply and cannot be used on previously painted brick.

  • Whitewash: Is a more permanent solution. It is more forgiving to apply and can be used on painted brick. However, because it sits on the surface, it can trap moisture.

Ultimately, if you want a breathable, natural, and reversible finish for unpainted brick, limewash is a great option. If you need a more permanent, opaque coating that can be applied over painted surfaces, whitewash is the better choice. Whitewashing may also be more economical, costing approximately $1.40 to $4.20 per square foot.

Whitewashing isn’t permanent, but it can last for a long, long time. When you apply it correctly or have a seasoned pro whitewash your brick, whitewashing can last for 20 to 30 years or longer. Whitewash is very durable and typically requires little maintenance, making it a great project for most DIYers.

Yes, staining or sealing a cedar deck or fence is highly recommended to extend its lifespan, typically by five to 10 years. While cedar is naturally resistant to mold and mildew, it can still fall victim to moisture, sun exposure, and rot over time. Applying a treatment creates a protective shield that helps prevent splintering, fading, and decay, preserving the wood's strength and appearance. A combination stain and sealer often provides the best protection, as it soaks into the wood grain rather than just sitting on top. This offers superior defense against UV damage and rot and lasts longer than a sealer alone. To maintain the wood's natural look, consider using a near-translucent stain. You should plan to reapply the stain or sealer every two to three years.

Limewash and whitewash do not harm surfaces if you apply them correctly. Use on non-suitable surfaces can cause issues. For instance, applying limewash or whitewash to surfaces with existing sealants or incompatible materials may lead to poor adhesion or flaking. Also, harsh cleaning agents on limewashed or whitewashed surfaces can damage the finish. Proper preparation, application, and maintenance ensure that limewash and whitewash do not harm surfaces.
