"APD was on time and a good price. Unfortunately, they pumped too much foam in an area that caused substantial damage to my deck. Instead of taking responsibility, they blamed it on me. I would have been better off not hiring them at all considering the damage they left behind. When I reached out to them, neither owner could be bothered to even speak to me personally. I asked them if they would file a claim with their insurance company and they turned that into me wanting money. I just wanted them to take responsibility for causing the damage and then fix it. I would not hire them again!"

Many horizontal cracks in home foundations result from water and soil pressure from outside of the building or from a footing that is shifting. Under those circumstances, horizontal cracks are a structural problem that requires repair before they become worse and more difficult to fix. You can use epoxy-based concrete fillers to repair small cracks and dents in the floor. For larger damages, remove any debris, then patch the cracks or holes with concrete repair products or resurface the entire floor. We recommend using fast-curing products that cure in four hours. You can also buy a pre-mixed concrete patch and leveler if you are only repairing parts of your floor.

Visible cracks, scaling, flaking, and uneven surfaces indicate a bad concrete job. Additional signs vary depending on the project. You may notice poor drainage or even exposed rebar. Quality issues result from using the wrong concrete, rushing the work, or inexperienced workers completing the job.

It depends on the bank and the extent of the issue. Some banks will lend against homes with minor foundation damage, but most won’t if the issue is structural since the home acts as collateral for the mortgage. Banks that offer renovation loans might still finance a home with structural problems. More minor issues like settling cracks and intermittent problems with humidity are unlikely to stop a bank from financing.

You'll find a slurry of natural and synthetic polymers, rubbers, epoxies, and resins used to bond old concrete to new concrete. The right bonding agent depends on the method of concrete pouring you choose and whether you're adhering concrete over concrete or concrete over sand and gravel. Some concrete resurfacing mixtures contain bonding chemicals as well.
