"Excellent! They were timely, professional and very easy to communicate with me on the project. Price paid was very reasonable for the extensive labor needed to fix my brick steps and mortar. completed the project ahead of schedule. I definitely would hire them again and recommend this company. "Our new stone fireplace was causing the deck to sink so we contacted Crawlspaces and More, among others, to fix the problem. Their team was professional, open, honest and thoroughly competent from the estimation through to the final result. What a great bunch of young men and amazingly quick in their installation of the foundation pads and jacks, and the lifting of the deck joists. Great job, guys!"

"Alberto was very responsive in responding to my inquiry, coming out to see the property and provided and estimate on the spot. He was very reliable and punctual when he said he would start and finish the project in spite of the weather. Alberto is very knowledgeable on landscaping and provided suggestions which we accepted. His pricing was competitive"

Masonry questions, answered by experts

Landscape boulders, especially porous stones like sandstone or granite, can crack or break over time. Cracks occur when water seeps into the surface of the stone and freezes. The risk is highest when it rains during the day and temperatures freeze overnight since the moisture has time to penetrate deeper into the rock before expanding.

Yes, you can enlarge windows in a brick house. Your masonry contractor will need to cut away exterior brick to make space for the larger window, and you may also need to consult a structural engineer to make sure the window is properly supported inside the frame of the house.

Stone can last anywhere from 15 to 100 years before it needs to be restored. You should clean your stone flooring or countertops regularly using cleaners designed for stone surfaces. Stay on top of vacuuming to prevent scratches from deteriorating stone faster, deep clean your stone surfaces using a pH-neutral cleaning solution at least once a year, and reseal the stone every one to five years, depending on foot traffic or usage.

Yes, it is usually possible to repair a damaged brick mailbox. A professional brick mason or masonry contractor can perform the repairs. They can assess the damage, provide an estimate, and help you determine if the repair is worthwhile based on the mailbox's value and the extent of the damage. The repair process may involve sourcing replacement bricks and mortar. Damaged bricks can be cut out and replaced, or the mortar joints can be cut out and retucked. It's important to note that the new mortar may differ in color from the original. If the mailbox insert itself is damaged, it can typically be cut out and replaced as well. If your brick mailbox has been completely destroyed, you should check with your local building code enforcement office before rebuilding, as some areas do not allow brick mailboxes due to the potential hazard they pose to drivers.

Yes, masonry is more expensive than concrete because the labor is much more involved. With masonry, your expert will build your project from the ground up, one piece at a time, ensuring they use the proper amount of mortar or grout during construction and keeping the project level or plumb. Pouring concrete can also be labor-intensive, but it’s a bit less involved. It requires building a mold, pouring the concrete, and letting it cure. The less intensive labor makes concrete a more affordable option in most cases.
