"Islas Masonry Solutions did an exceptional job. We needed a concrete walkway constructed immediately for my 87 year old mother. Franciso Jr. met us at my mother's home, he was on time and provided an estimate. He began the project on time, finished on time, cleared away and cleaned all debris from the yard and street. He was extremely professional and the concrete walkway is exceptional work. I highly recommend this company for any stone, brick, block or stucco work you may need. We have dealt with other contractors and Franciso treated us like family. If he you can make an 87 year old mother, grand-mother and great grandmother happy, you are the REAL deal. Excellent work and Exceptional Service!"

"Our house has some water damage issue in the first floor and basement. The company sent Landon to our house. He is very kind, smart and knowledgeable person. He inspected the house and honestly explained that he did not see any house foundation issues. The water leaking issues were caused by pipe broken. He said "If you house has any foundation issues, please contact us". We will definitely use them for any foundation related repair jobs in the future."

"From the initial contact to the final payment, the representative was always friendly and courteous. They repaired all the areas that had begun to break down (original stonework done in 1990) and added a sealant to hopefully will give added protection going forward. All the workers were professional and did a through job protecting the surrounding areas as well as doing a complete cleanup afterwards."

Masonry questions, answered by experts

In Buford, masonry work is typically scheduled from late March through early November, when the weather is mild and less humid. These months provide the best environment for mortar and brick repair to set properly, reducing the risk of cracks from rapid temperature changes. Winter’s freezing conditions can weaken fresh stonework, so most professionals avoid starting projects during colder months.

Helpful?

Masonry work in Buford benefits from seasonal inspections, especially after heavy spring rains and before winter. Look for cracks, shifting bricks, or efflorescence, which are common due to the region’s clay soil and humidity. Clean surfaces to prevent mold, reapply weather-resistant sealants every few years, and check for water pooling near foundations to prevent long-term stonework damage.

Helpful?

When hiring for masonry work in Buford, prioritize contractors with proven experience handling the area’s clay soil and drainage issues. Ensure they carry valid insurance, understand local building codes, and have completed similar brick or stonework projects nearby. Request recent references, verify their knowledge of materials suited to Buford’s humid climate, and confirm they can address any neighborhood-specific guidelines.

Helpful?

In Buford, be cautious of masonry contractors who offer vague estimates, request large upfront payments, or lack a physical address. Avoid those unwilling to provide proof of insurance or recent local references. Reliable professionals will detail materials, address drainage for clay soil, and outline warranties in writing. Pressure to make quick decisions or unclear contract terms are also warning signs.

Helpful?

Safety for masonry work in Buford means working during cooler hours to avoid heat stress, especially in summer. Workers should wear protective gear, use fall protection on uneven or sloped ground, and always check for underground utilities before digging. Be mindful of sudden thunderstorms, clay dust, and local pests like fire ants, which are common on outdoor job sites in the area.
