"John Gilbert, the owner of this particular company, is personable, listens to your concerns, attempts to remedy your floor issues without costing you unnecessary repairs. He even came back a second time because he was concerned regarding some movement in the floor and wanted to make sure that when installed, the same problem would not reoccur. He even reached out to others in his organization. He is on time, responsible, caring, and overall a very nice person to work with. He is a rare person in today's world. I would highly recommend him and his company to anyone who is looking to either repair or replace a wood floor. Anne Wold, Deerfield, Illinois"

"They did an amazing job installing 850 sq feet of large plank ceramic tile throughout our family room, laundry room and kitchen. Everything is level and it looks amazing! We are hiring them again for our porch"

"Brothers Tile did phenomenal work replacing my kitchen floors and even helped me design a personalized backsplash. They were very professional and passionate about their work. The project was finished in no time (approx 1-2 days). I reccomend them to everyone I know in search of tile work and I would hire them again for my next project!"

"Brad and the Brothers Tile Company did an outstanding job on our previously botched shower pan and tile. Not only was their tile work absolutely gorgeous but Brad was a phenomenal communicator and stayed true to his word on all commitments made. I initially found Brothers Tile on Angies List and called him in a panic. That day he jumped to the rescue to temporarily fix our leaking shower as we were days away from having a renter in our home. We then scheduled him to rip out and fix the job in its entirety when our home would be vacant. Brad was super helpful with scheduling and catered to our needs. The project started as planned and we didnt even have to be there. He took great care of our home and sent picture updates as he progressed on the project. The job was finished early and the pricing was very fair and costed even less than anticipated. Brad was more than ethical and I wouldnt have been surprised if the job had costed more. Savannah is a tough town to find good work and after 1.5 years of fixing up our 1899 home, Brothers Tile is the only company I have found that has truly been reliable and a pleasure to work with. You will not be disappointed if you hire them to do a job either big or small."

"I’ve been preparing my house for the market, and Michael Popkin has been a real partner. He has been enthusiastic and has helped identify areas of the house for improvement. I hired him to replace tile and grout in two bathrooms. He took out a wheel chair lift, replaced shower heads, and laid down new wood laminate flooring for two upstairs rooms. His rate has been very reasonable, and I’m proud to show the house he has helped make new."

Ceramic Tile questions, answered by experts

Yes, but you’ll have to use some other type of tool to avoid damaging the tile and possibly injuring yourself. Some alternatives to tile cutters include a glass cutter, angle grinder, and wet saw. Depending on the tile material, you might simply be able to measure and score it with something sharp, like a carbide-tipped pencil, and break it off. Be sure to sand the edge for a smooth installation.

Yes, tiling a bathroom is a great way to boost your home's value, especially if you are replacing old or dated flooring. Adding a new tile floor can deliver a return on investment (ROI) of around 56.4%, with some projects offering up to 100% ROI. Buyers appreciate new tile because it provides a modern look and is known for being durable, water-resistant, low-maintenance, and easy to clean. For the best results and highest return, consider hiring a professional, as tiling mistakes can be very noticeable and detract from the value.

When choosing tiles for a shower floor, avoid highly porous tile materials, like those with a water absorption rating over 7%. Don’t use non-vitreous tiles, or tiles fired at low temperatures, because they will absorb more water. If you use a highly porous tile in the shower, the tiles can wear down faster, meaning they’ll need to be replaced much sooner.

If you hire a professional to install a new floor, you can expect to pay between $50 and $75 per hour for labor. It takes two days on average to install a new floor as part of a bathroom remodeling project, but your timeline depends on your bathroom’s size and layout.

On average, tiling a bathroom involves about 12 hours of labor, usually spread over two to three days to accommodate prep work and curing times. A professional tiler can often complete the installation in 6 to 8 hours, whereas a DIYer might take 10 to 16 hours. The total project time is influenced by factors like the bathroom layout, tile type, and necessary prep work, such as removing old tile. The process includes specific timelines for different areas; for example, tiling a floor takes about six hours, while a shower area can take six to ten hours. It is essential to allow for adequate curing time—typically 24 hours each—for the mortar, grout, and caulk, which is why the project extends over several days.
