"I called Henry County Electric and so glad I did. Before calling I did some research on my problem as well as the cost. In considering the work to be done and the cost of other estimates…..much higher!! Chris came to do the job when scheduled, quality work, also alerted me to an electrical hazard while he was there and immediately repaired it. He is now my “go to” electrician. LOOK NO FURTHER!!"

"Update from 20 Jan 2026: I`ve been a repeat customer of Keep Smiling Plumber, Electrical, Heating and Cooling in the past for several home-related repairs. After having an unfortunate experience with Keep Smiling PEHC during my most recent service, I had some misgivings about the company and whether I would return as a customer. In regards to their customer service, everyone that I`ve engaged with (technicians, onsite supervisor, receptionist) has always been professional and courteous which goes a long way with me. The issue that I had was technical in nature and left me with some dissatisfaction regarding the quality of work. After speaking with leadership of this organization Mr. Powell and Ms. Amy ,I believe that they hold the highest standards and expectations for their employees and ensure that any work-related issues are duly addressed/resolved. I can sincerely say that they have regained my confidence and trust in contacting them in the future for my future HVAC, Electrical and Plumbing home needs. The manager I spoke with told me that there wasn`t any way the damage of the pump could come from the technician doing a drain and flush of the water heater. He told me that it would cost $1200 to replace the pump on the water heater. After speaking with the manager at Keep Smiling, I called another company which I`ve seen before in the community and spoke with a plumber and explained to him what happened. The technician at the other company told me that the pump could definitely be damaged if the pump was still plugged up and not turned off while the water heater was being drained and flush. I called the manager at Keep Smiling and shared those details with him and he replied that he understands what I`m saying but there was nothing he could do about it. I told him that I don`t have any reason to lie about any of this and felt very frustrated and cheated by the fact that I went in expecting for them to do a maintenance check for $59 for plumbing but ended up spending a $1000 for new. "Hamrick, electric wired my home, I was and am still happy with their job. Which is why I approached them for my Generac. I could have payed less, but decided on Hamrick because they are local and the product I think superior to others. Wasn't real happy with the time line, 3 or 4 months. Sometimes hard to get a real person on the phone. The gas contractor although excellent took I think to long. But, again couldn't be happier with the installation. The installers were stellar, very happy with their work. I wish the warranty would have been explained better other than x years on one thing and x years on a other. I really don't know what it is. Overall I give it a 4 + star."

Electrical questions, answered by experts

Different fences use different amounts of electricity, but their operating costs are very low overall. Electric fences pull between 4 and 25 watts from the system if you have an average-sized yard. Barring any complicated math, you can expect an average electric fence to cost less than $5 a month to run. Aboveground electric fences, which are not typical for residential use or small animals, can cost more, but you shouldn't notice a significant change in your electric bill.

Yes, a light switch still has power even when switched off. Switches only interrupt or continue the flow of electricity into a fixture or outlet; they do not shut off the power flowing into the wire. The only way to shut off power in a light switch is to turn off the power at the circuit breaker.

Knob and tube wiring is old, and its casing is brittle. This means that it's possible to receive a dangerous electrical shock if you touch a live wire and essentially become an electrical pathway. Although the scenario is unlikely, touching any K&T wiring is simply not a good idea in any instance. Leave any wire handling to the professionals.

The copper wire used in knob and tube wiring systems can last up to 100 years. However, it’s considered a dangerous and outdated wiring method because the cloth, fabric, or rubber insulation sheathing can become brittle and fall apart. Knob and tube wiring systems should be inspected if you’re considering buying a home with this type of wiring, or if you have problems with frequently tripping breakers, a sign that you may need to replace them.

In the case of electrical overflow, an ungrounded outlet should trip the circuit breaker, staving off dangerous scenarios. However, this is not always the case, especially if the wires and circuit breaker are worn down or damaged in some way. Ungrounded wires melt over time as they are introduced to more and more electricity. In other words, a circuit breaker offers protection in most instances but not always, and that’s where the danger lies with ungrounded outlets.
