  The original HVAC units that were installed when my house was built over twenty years ago were limping along on their last legs. They were inadequate low-grade units put in by the builder. Shumate had done great job keeping them alive for the past few years so we could make it through the summers. Finally, the upstairs unit died--beyond hope of saving. I had had such great service from Shumate over the years, so I asked them for a quote on good replacements for both upstairs and downstairs. They promptly and courteously complied. They recommended the XC14 second tier Lennox units with variable speed furnace fan, and a seer rating of 14-16, and re-doing the ductwork adjacent to the units. They also recommended a more powerful unit for upstairs unit, because my ductwork would accomodate it, and it would be more cost-effective, and heavy-duty filters for both units. Shumate gave me their best price up front. I told them I'd have to get other quotes and get back to them. They were fine with that, and said they always recommend that. I got four other quotes from other companies on comparable units (comparing apples to apples and doing my homework on various brands), ductwork, thermostats, etc. Long story short, Shumate beat them all hands down with the best price plus additional discounts and rebates. They even added a few other details at no additional charge. Shumate's rep never said anything bad about any other company, but during his answers to my questions, I realized a couple of other companies had been less than honest with me. On the agreed upon day, Shumate arrived with all equipment and a full crew, and began work in the morning before the heat of the day, and didn't stop until the whole job was done. Then the job supervisor walked me through everything and explained everything, even programmed the thermostats to our specifications. They cleaned up and hauled off all the old equipment, scraps and debris, and even swept up the tiniest particles. Sumate's people were so friendly and helpful, as always in our previous experience with them. These new Lennox units are awesome. Quiet (you never hear them), efficient (energy efficient and money saving), and the house is always at the perfect temperature--super comfortable! They've since called me a couple of times to make sure I'm completely happy and to answer any additional questions. That's good service. Bottom line: I can whole-heartedly recommend Shumate, and will use them again and again for all my HVAC needs. If you need airconditioning or heating for your home, let Shumate give you a quote.   From start to finish, they were fast, efficient, and did top quality work. The original contact (who showed me the various options and took my order) stayed closely involved in the process to answer any questions and to make sure everything went smoothly. The crew arrived on the scheduled day of work and did an outstanding job. A week later I had a small concern (the condensation pump seemed lower on the ground compared to how it was before) and they sent a tech who raised it and answered my questions.   I'd never dealt with Shumate but seeing their reviews on Angie's List I called them to get a competitive quote for a replacement furnace. The 13 year old furnace on the main level of my home was failing and needed to be replaced based on an assessment from the company currently providing maintenance on it. I got a quote for new unit from the company handling my maintenance. I needed a competitive quote so I called Shumate sales. They sent John out the same day I called, at 6 p.m. to accommodate my work schedule. John was professional and informative and really provided the information I needed to make a decision on a new furnace. He also let me know about 0% 36 month financing offered by Shumate through Wells Fargo. He said they could be out the next day to install if I wanted to move that quickly (I'd woken up twice this week to a cold house!). At the same time I did not feel pressured to make a decision. John recommended a mid-line Lennox Elite unit and a replacement for my Aprilaire air cleaner which was falling apart. He also quoted a new 3" PVC flue vent to replace the 2" currently in place which the salesman from the other company hadn't bothered to include in the quote. John explained some of the higher end options like the unit with variable speed motor and an optional wi-fi thermostat. I told him I was not interested due to cost. I appreciated having the options presented however - something the other company's sales person did not discuss with me. I called John the next morning, Friday, to let him know I wanted to move forward. He got the paperwork in motion and was able to schedule the install for the next day, Saturday morning at 8 a.m. The crew came out on schedule and had the new unit up and running in about two-and-a-half hours. The installers were cordial, did the work I hired them to do and even patched up some insulation which was falling off one of the ducts. They left the work area clean and free of debris. I would definitely recommend Shumate to anyone looking for a new heating/air conditioning systemshow more

  Shumate was the far front runner for my hvac. I interviewed 6 companies and Shumate was the most thorough, competitively priced and gave me my gut feeling this was a very professional outfit who wanted my business. My experience with them was wonderful. I deeply researched types of hvac systems and was a bit leery of the Amana system (which is what was installed), but after looking at Shumates warranty, the manufactures warranty and many blogs of professional HVACpeople, I realized this was a good product. Shumate was the only company who took the time to go room to room in my house. The sales rep. was very detailed in his evaluation. My house is a fairly large, rambling, multi level, older place. The great room has never ever been comfortable (soaring ceiling with no insulation), top floor warmer and generally hard to heat and cool. Before the replacement we kept the temperature at 78 and it was just not comfortable. The summer electric bills were in the high $200. to low $300. I now keep it at 76. We have had the hottest June and July on record. My house has never been as comfortable as it is now. The great room is cool, the upstairs is cool, the whole house is cool. I just received my electric bill and my jaw dropped! We thought it was a mistake. It was $169.16! For record breaking heat, lowering the inside temperature, having greater cooler air flow (you can feel the difference in the amount of air it pushes through) I am pleased as punch.
