Hello,\nMy name is Steve Summerlin. I’m as pro as they come at painting from your child’s nursery walls, cabinets, vehicles all the way to your local Burger King. I am also very handy when it comes to minor plumbing and electrical, lawn care, equipment/appliance repairs and maintenance or any honey do list. I try to avoid large jobs as I have not had the best luck with employees. I have a plethora of quality references. I’m also a chemist and a chemical engineer if someone is in need of a tutor. My prices are probably too reasonable so I’ll soon be going back to engineering or chemistry. I’m sure I’m forgetting something but I can usually respond within 24 hours if not sooner. "There was some water damage found to my hardwood flooring and to one of my cabinets. They were able to find the cause of the damage and make the necessary repairs and match the flooring. Quartzite is more expensive than granite, largely because of its rarity. Granite is naturally more common. A granite slab generally costs $40 to $60 per square foot (excluding super-rare types), while quartzite slabs cost anywhere from $50 to $150 per square foot. 

With both materials, it’s usually more affordable to purchase stones that are readily available in your location. You may need to import other stones, which come at a higher cost.

While Formica® countertops are scratch-resistant, they are not fully scratch-proof. They will develop marks on their upper decorative layer more easily than quartz, granite, or porcelain tile. Always use cutting boards for food prep and avoid dragging heavy items, such as blenders or big pots, across the surfaces.

It all comes down to rarity and demand. Granite rocks with unique patterns or rare colorways like red, purple, and blue are more expensive than traditional designs. Some types of blue granite are extremely rare, like Azul Aran and Blue Bahia, driving the price up even further. The most expensive type of all is a unique design called Van Gogh granite. As the name suggests, it sort of looks like a painting. 

Epoxy is typically more affordable than granite, especially if you’re choosing a high-end slab. Most granite countertops cost $75 to $145 per square foot to install, with high-end varieties topping $185 per square foot. 

In contrast, epoxy countertops cost $50 to $150 per square foot to install. The material costs for epoxy are significantly lower than granite, but installation costs can be higher. Rather than simply cutting granite countertops to size before installation, your contractor will need to carefully pour the epoxy over an existing surface.

You should use glue and screws when installing butcher block countertops. Opt for a construction adhesive or wood glue applied along the top edge of your base cabinets. For added strength, install support brackets on the base cabinets, then secure your countertop with screws. Make sure you only tighten the screws to the point where the butcher block is snug against the cabinet and don’t overtighten.
