"Cody H. and Tracy D. Did an awesome job replacing my old cast iron bathtub with a new shower/bathtub! Couldnâ t be happier with the work and appreciated the time they took to review what was to be done and the walk through when it was completed."

"Mad City was personable and professional with all that needed to be done at my home. Patio door replacement, bedroom window replacement, and shower stall installation. They even hired a subcontractor to repair a hole in the ceiling that was caused by a leaky bathtub. My highest complements!"

"We had to have an unexpected bathroom renovation in one of our bathrooms due to the unpleasant discovery of a rotted joist under the bathtub due to years of water seeping through the aged tiles and grout in the shower. I obtained four quotes from contractors and chose Improve America because of the price quoted and good Angie's List reviews. As soon as the first bathroom was completed, my husband and I were so pleased with the results and easy process that we decided to have Improve America immediately begin to remodel the second bathroom, too! I cannot say enough positive things about the entire experience of working with Mel and his subcontractors. First, as mentioned, the results were fantastic. The tile turned out beautifully and all of the work met or exceeded my expectations. Second, Mel provided flexibility to accommodate our busy works schedules by coordinating and passing along a key that we gave him to all of the various subcontractors (plumber, tile people, etc.). He also accommodated our schedules by having a lot of the work on the second bathroom completed while we were away on vacation. Third, I was impressed by not only the quality of work of the people with whom Mel chooses to work, but also by the friendliness and respectfulness of the people with whom he chooses to work. Most of the work was completed while we were away from our home, but they always treated our home with respect, and on the occasion that we did happen to meet someone that was working, they were always friendly and pleasant. Fourth, I was pleased with the communication that Mel provided. He was easy to contact by text message or email, which is convenient when you are having a busy day! Finally and very importantly, I feel that we saved a lot of money by working with Improve America versus another contractor. Mel allowed us to purchase our own tile and fixtures for the renovation and only invoiced us for the labor and other misc. materials (most of which was included in the quoted price, but there were a couple of add-on items like valves that had to be replaced unexpectedly in one of the bathrooms). This allowed us to do our own price shopping and ensure that we did not have to pay an outrageous mark-up for the materials. I really appreciated the transparency of the costs, and ultimately, the total costs of the renovations were much lower than if we had chosen one of the other contractors which had quoted the job. Overall, I am very satisfied with the experience and would not only use Improve America again, but I would also highly recommend Improve America to family and friends. Working with Mel made a potentially stressful renovation very easy and I could not be more pleased with the results!"

Bathtub Replacement questions, answered by experts

A professional bathtub installation or replacement typically takes one to three days, depending on the project's complexity and any necessary alterations. If you hire a professional, most replacements can be completed in one to three days. However, if you choose the DIY route, the process could take up to a month, as it involves removing the old tub and drywall, installing the new tub, repairing the drywall, and installing new tiling.

The plumbing industry has standardized the sizes for bathtub drains. They are 1 1/2 inches wide to fit all standard bathtubs from 14 to 26 inches deep. The standard sizing is to ensure that the drain fits into the P trap, a special part of your piping that prevents sewer water from bubbling up into your home (yuck).

Ensures correct plumbing connections and secure installation to prevent future water damage.

While Medicare will pay for some bathroom modifications, it won’t pay for all modifications done to help make the room more accessible for older adults. Plus, the improvements must be approved in advance, or they won’t cover the upgrade. Check well in advance of construction if you have coverage for grab bars, walk-in tubs, wider doorways, higher toilets, and more.

The order of your bathroom renovation should prevent damage to the completed work. Start with demolition and removing the old fixtures. Then, address structural repairs or water damage, if needed. Next, tackle the rough-in phase for plumbing and electrical work, install waterproofing, and work on wall treatments like tile or paint. Install your shower or bathtub, toilet, vanity, and sink. Flooring goes in after major fixtures but before the toilet. Lastly, install new lighting fixtures, mirrors, and other finishing touches as desired.
