"Magdiel was truly a pleasure to work with and we are thoroughly grateful for his review of our home. I had many concerns and he looked at and addressed them all. He never made us feel rushed even though he came on a Saturday morning. He was even kind enough to suggest we not pay for the report as he didn't feel it was necessary. We would highly recommend him to anyone looking for a structural engineer."

Customers say: Quick response

"Stephan came out to do a structural inspection on a house we were already under contract to buy. He found $30k+ of potential repairs, including needed support for a crawl space wall and many support beams that were cracked or eaten by termites. Saved us from making an expensive purchase, and came out less than 24 hours after we called. Would recommend."

"Good person, knowledgeable, and patient when it come to ensuring your vision comes to life. When I've shown the plans to GCs , they all commented on how well executed the plans are. He will also provide renderings of your vision so you are able to physically SEE your ideas from your head to almost life:-).I will add, when designing, I had a vision, but no real idea of how much my vision would cost. Now the beautiful plans, are a bit costly to build. I will suggest developing your plans with the potential GC and architect at the same time if you value adhering to a build-out budget. I definitely recommend Mike!"

Structural Engineering questions, answered by experts

Yes, water damage can affect your walls' structural integrity. If the water or moisture sits on the walls for an extended period, it can weaken the drywall, plaster, wood framing, and other materials supporting the wall. That's why it's critical to dry out the area as soon as you notice it.

Cathedral ceilings make a statement in your home, but at the cost of your attic space. Normal attics are wide open, which allows warm air to move around and exit your home. Because of this, cathedral ceilings make your home less energy efficient and put your ceiling at risk of venting issues if you’re not careful. They also reduce your attic storage space, potentially cause an echo, and even make it harder to change a light bulb.

No, squeaky floors do not always mean there is structural damage. The noise is often caused by friction from issues like loose floorboards, gaps between the subfloor and joists, or loose subflooring. While many squeaks are harmless, persistent or worsening noise could indicate a more severe problem. If you notice other signs of structural damage—such as soft or sagging floors, cracks running from the wall to the ceiling, or horizontal cracks in your foundation—it's best to have a professional inspect your floor to determine the root cause.

The best way to determine if ceiling cracks are structural is to hire a ceiling contractor to inspect the cracks and provide a professional opinion. That said, you might be able to make an educated guess based on the size and appearance of the crack. Larger cracks, cracks accompanied by sagging or discoloration, and cracks that travel from the ceiling down the walls are all signs of structural issues.

Yes, professionals reinforce the foundation with additional supports or piers to prevent future sinking.
