Small jobs welcome

"Jeremy and his tile installer Jose (aka "Chewy") made this challenging job a rewarding experience in more ways than one. The project was to renovate three 1870ish fireplaces. For two of these, we were using a subway tile to emulate a Victorian-era look. The third involved a combination of slate and decorative tiles. Naturally in this old house, nothing is square, level, or plumb. Furthermore, we had a firm deadline to be met. And as so often happens with jobs like this, there were unhappy surprises requiring more work and time by the contractor than was expected. Despite all this, Jeremy and Chewy arranged their schedules (even working on a holiday) and used their creativity to overcome the issues and complete the job by the date Jeremy had committed to. Furthermore, although the project clearly was more time-consuming and complicated than anticipated, Jeremy honorably held to his bid price. The quality of the work was excellent, again particularly so when considering the construction issues this old house threw at the guys. Throughout the process, Jeremy kept us regularly posted and was always very professional and responsive - he uses his smart phone's capabilities to provide near real-time communication. Chewy has been installing tile for over 20 years, and his experience as well as aesthetic sensibility really shows. For our 3rd fireplace, we discovered that the slate tiles were about a quarter-inch larger both length and width than the decorative tiles; that required Chewy cutting the stone tiles to fit - slate is a challenging material to work with but Chewy handled it with ease . Chewy also ensured that the layout of the disparate slate tiles along with decorative tiles was done in the most eye-pleasing fashion. Altogether, the final result is spectacular. On Chewy's phone he keeps a library of past projects which proves that his design and craftmanship skills are nothing short of exceptional. I would not hesitate even one moment to give my highest recommendation to Jeremy and Chewy for any tile installation project. Thanks again, guys!"

"Amazing!!!! She has wonderful ideas and art work (which I purchased).. she opened my eyes to a new way of designing and decoratings. I saw her professionalism in her attitude and work. With Corie B actions and words spoke volumes. The way she color coordinates and put accent colors in was mind blowing to me. I can't wait for her to come and do my other 2 bedrooms and bath.. My only regret is that I didn't have but one living room and one dining room for her ro design..my master bedroom & barhroom look like it came from HGTV magazine..When she was done I thoughtshe was from their team..GREAT WORK Corie B ...10??????????from me"

"Purchased coupon on August 11, 2011.  Because I was remodeling my kitchen myself after work and weekends, I didn't have time to deal with the creating the room drafts, plans, layouts or measurements she required.  I did contact Jill and explain the situation and she was very understanding.  She said because I contacted her, not to worry about the deadline.  I remained in contact with her over the next few years (that's how long it took me) and when I was ready around the start of 2014, she worked hard to provide her new design.
A true professional and great person to work with.  The design was spot on and my wife and i were very impressed.  Thank you Jill.

"My husband and I have had the great pleasure of working with Kevin Hall for the last year. Kevin had a challenge to help us remodel, on a budget, as we will most likely sell in the next 4 years. We wanted a fresh contemporary look in a transitional home, yet wanted to make sure that all the updates were wise investments. What a sigh of relief and what a great joy it is to actually find a designer that we can partner with - one who collaborates, one who has our best interest at heart, one who is respectful, and so easy to work with! Kevin has a gifted eye for style and design and his keen eye helped make some critical revisions to our remodel. A bonus of working with Kevin - my husband trusts him and trusts his opinion. He’s always looking for ways to save us money (my husband likes that) and yet create the look we are looking for in home. On a few occasions he actually suggested a less expensive option than we had thought of. The end result looks spectacular and we feel great that we’ve been smart with our funds. We wholeheartedly recommend Kevin! He keeps his word, is timely and bends over backwards to see that his clients get TOP quality work done from contractors. We’re grateful we found Kevin Hall!"

"I feel extremely fortunate to have found Vicki through Angie's List !  She is an extremely talented person who is very easy to deal with. She has a breath of knowledge that allows her to accommodate my tastes, but also ensure that the overall design is in sync with the design and location of my home.  She has  a very diplomatic way of suggesting when I'm going astray with my choices and in every case where she has told me "Trust Me"  I have been delighted ! She is very aggressive in helping me find the best pricing and often times will work with the vendors directly  hence saving me the time.  She also has excellent local contacts.  Everyone I've worked with through Vicki has been timely, professional, and highly competent.
My project is far from complete.  I intend to continue to use Vicki and her expert advice until the end !!!!"

"Everything turns out beautiful!! The guys who works for Phuong are very nice and professional. They helped moved our furniture around and our furniture are heavy!!! They perform their job with care , you could tell by how they wrapped up “everything” in out home to prep for interior painting. I highly recommend AVM restorations, Phương, Luis and his painter crew, and Rafael who did an amazing job on our white tile kitchen backlash. I am loving my new renovated kitchen!! Thank you guys!"

Interior Design and Decorating questions, answered by experts

Part of the beauty of academia decor is that most textures and materials will feel right at home, provided they’re dark. Some common textures include natural wood, dark metals like iron, velvet, and leather. Incorporating these into your dark academia decor will make them look right at home. Glass is another option in some cases, so fill in gaps in your decor with small glass jars, or really lean on the gothic roots of dark academia with stained glass.

Deciding to hire an interior designer or an interior decorator is entirely dependent on what you’re looking for out of your project and your budget. Interior decorators typically cost less than interior designers, both in hourly rates and overall project costs.

If you want to add furnishings to your home but it’s otherwise set with permanent fixtures, an interior decorator would be best for you. However, if you are looking to remodel your home or are building a new home and would like help with permanent structures like cabinets, showers, and overall layouts, an interior designer is best.

A certified kitchen designer (or CKD) is a certification given by the National Kitchen and Bath Association. These designers have completed the necessary hours of training and education to specialize in kitchens, and therefore understand the wide variety of project needs (like plumbing, electrical, appliances, and more). Most pros will make their certifications known on their website, but you can also ask during your search for a local kitchen designer.

Experts assess weight, select appropriate hangers, align pieces, and install securely using safe techniques that ensure an even and aesthetically pleasing display.

A hearth often looks like a tile or brick floor that juts out from and surrounds your fireplace. A hearth can be made of stone, brick, ceramic, or any other fireproof material. Brick offers a classic and traditional vibe, whereas a hearth made of marble or ceramic may lean more toward modern aesthetics. The most common depth of a hearth is 20 inches.
