"We found that an old antenna fell that was attached to the roof of our 2 story home. We called Archer chimney, they came out the same day, investigated the damage, and provided a quote. The following day, Joel and and Mike returned and repaired the roof. They were very professional and courteous. Pictures were provided before and after the job. We highly recommend this company and will be using them for additional projects in the future. Great job JOEL AND MIKE."

Fireplaces questions, answered by experts

When planning gas log service, prepare for local permit fees and required inspections. Older homes in Columbus neighborhoods like Midtown require gas line upgrades to meet current GA building codes. You must also account for potential utility meter upgrades if your existing infrastructure is undersized. Finally, properties near the Chattahoochee River require firebox repairs due to moisture damage before professionals safely complete the work.

Helpful?

Routine fireplace service requires annual inspections each fall before the first use. High humidity in Columbus accelerates mortar deterioration and rusts metal components, making yearly waterproofing and damper checks essential. You must schedule exterior maintenance outside of the spring and summer bird nesting season. Always book a certified specialist to clear creosote buildup and inspect your chimney cap for hidden damage after heavy summer storms.

Helpful?

Start by scheduling a comprehensive inspection and a thorough cleaning. Because fireplaces in Columbus sit dormant for months, pests and debris build up quickly. You should also replace the chimney cap to block heavy summer rain and prevent animal entry. Finally, inspect the damper, as Georgia humidity easily warps metal parts. These essential fireplace service steps ensure your system remains safe and fully functional before the first cold snap.

Helpful?

Schedule gas log service if the pilot light fails to stay lit, which happens after humid summers in GA. Visible rust, unusual odors, and uneven flames also indicate an urgent need for maintenance. Additionally, book an inspection after severe storms or if the fireplace sits unused for over a year. Otherwise, schedule annual pre-season maintenance every August or September.

Helpful?

Always verify your technician holds the proper state-issued license and carries current liability insurance. Any gas log service in GA requires a permit, so avoid contractors who refuse to pull one. Hire professionals with experience navigating older housing stock in areas like Wynnton. Your technician must also understand local utility protocols for service interruptions, reconnections, and safety pressure testing.
