"Estimate was provided promptly and job started as scheduled, after permitting for some weather delays at other jobs on the schedule prior to ours. Old, overgrown landscape was removed from around our entire house and a berm in the back yard. Complete new landscape was installed, including paving stones, a drainage field/walkway, new plants and grass, and mulch with both wood chips and pine straw. Overall, we are pleased with our new landscape. It's been about 9 months since the installation, and Michaelangelo's did do a handful of warranty plant replacements late last year. This spring, we've lost another two plants, but elected not to ask for warranty work given the Coronavirus outbreak. Note that I gave a "B" as the overall rating solely because I felt that the team was under-supervised during installation of the new landscape. No one came to my door and introduced themselves as a contact for the job, and I stayed inside with blinds closed tight to keep my dog from wigging out. Two different areas of grass were removed when they shouldn't have been, plus ivy that was to remain on one side of my berm was removed. Michaelangelo's replanted the grass, but I had to water two additional areas that I hadn't planned on - and I don't have a sprinkler system, so every day of extra watering was a hands-on effort to drag hoses and sprinklers to the necessary areas. The removed ivy means an additional area of mulch. Again, they provided it, but it will be on me to replenish it over time. I am satisfied with their work and would hire Michaelangelo's again, but the installation experience didn't make a 5-star ("A") for me."

"Hardscapes by the yard, referred by a friend, performed the services superbly. First, the owner, Mr Philip Byard, provided a thoughtful and insightful consultation about ways to improve the look of our backyard. He suggested a price-friendly way to replace the unsightly concrete cinder blocks that formed the wall with landscaping bricks, regional plants that conformed to the climate and sunlight of our backyard, and a new way of placing paving stones for paths. Finally, he provided a sketch of how earth could be "sculpted" to make the contours and topology of the backyard more attractive. Overall, I was very impressed with the care and creativity that Mr Byard put into our job. Then, with this plan and a reasonable price, he initiated the work a week later. It was completed within 5 days and involved the labor of 2-3 men. We were not at home most of the time, but overall, their presence was unobtrusive and they were unfailingly polite. As specified, they replaced the retaining wall, laid down new paving stones to improve the access to the backyard, and put in ~ 20 new plants. The yard has yet to "grow in" since it is autumn, but I anticipate it will look fabulous. Overall, we were very pleased with the work of Hardscapes by the Yard, and anticipate using them for routine yard maintenance in the future. In fact, they are removing leaves from our front yard now as I write this, and charge a very reasonable fee for this service. We like Mr Byard very much -- he is a polite and friendly gentleman -- and appreciate the care he has brought to our home. I recommend his business highly."
