"Trevor was on time, courteous and very professional. He inspected the fireplace, damper, flue liner and chimney crown. He found several issues that need to be addressed and the structure was clean. He explained pricing and all the options, very pleased."

"The service went really well. They came out, determined that my leak was indeed coming from the faulty rain pan, took dimensions, and tarped the chimney. The new rain pain and wind shroud was made and installed within about a week, which I was highly impressed with. The only reason I didn't give five stars is because they charge a couple hundred dollars to come out, inspect, and provide a quote which I feel is wrong, especially when you're trying to figure out whats going on and being able to find the right contractor for the right price for you. Yes, if you use their services they waive this fee, but if you wanted to use someone else you'll be on the hook for them coming out."

"Cruz inspected and cleaned my chimney, which hadn't been used in several years. He recommended repairs and backed his recommendation up with solid evidence of damage done during installation and degradation over time. Price was nominally higher than some other estimates but the transparency and clear communication paired with an excellent review history convinced me to go with Cormont. Reyes came out to do the repairs and install a gas burner and gas log kit. They were on time, didn't waste any time, the work was carefully done. He and his assistant took care to protect my floors and furniture and cleaned up thoroughly. Definitely recommend Cormont."

"We found that an old antenna fell that was attached to the roof of our 2 story home. We called Archer chimney, they came out the same day, investigated the damage, and provided a quote. The following day, Joel and and Mike returned and repaired the roof. They were very professional and courteous. Pictures were provided before and after the job. We highly recommend this company and will be using them for additional projects in the future. Great job JOEL AND MIKE."

Small jobs welcome

"David and Zack came out to our house in December for a chimney cleaning and inspection. We knew we would be needing some degree of repair on our cap and pan, but David informed me that we had been fitted with the wrong size pan the whole time we have lived here and the damage was much more extensive than we anticipated. We were quite frustrated that no previous chimney service company brought the issue to our attention before the damage was done, but David put together a fair and comprehensive proposal to fix the chimney. Huge job that David and Zack’s crew, led by Jerry, got done a couple of days faster than quoted! Special shout out to Christine at the office for her speedy and super helpful communication! We will definitely be hiring them for all of our maintenance going forward! I give Nevermore Services five stars because that’s all I’m allowed to give!"

Chimney Inspection questions, answered by experts

While spotting a bit of algae on your roof may not bother you at first glance, it is certainly bothering your roof shingles. The presence of algae can cause decay and shorten the lifespan of your roof’s shingles, which can lead to much bigger problems down the road. While this issue may seem cosmetic at first glance, it goes much deeper than that.

Take a look at your roof shingles from the ground or from a ladder, and look for cracked or missing shingles, which are the most obvious signs of roof damage. You should also look for pockmarks from hail and blown debris, as well as blisters that could indicate a moisture issue or a problem with the installation. Inside your home, be on the lookout for water spots on the ceilings on your upper floor, as this is a clear sign of a roof leak.

You can tell if you have ridge vents by looking at the roof’s peak from outside. A ridge vent will look like a speed bump or slight rise away from the roof’s surface and will likely be covered in the same material as the rest of the roof. You can also tell from inside your attic—look up at the roof ridge to see if there is light coming through along the length of the ridge.

The most obvious and severe sign of a roof leak is the presence of wet spots on your ceilings, specifically on the top floor of your home. You can also identify a roof leak from your attic if you see sagging insulation or if you notice mold growth or water stains on the rafters or the underside of the roof deck. From the street, look for cracked or missing shingles, moss growth, and shingles that are curling upward, all of which can suggest a leak.

Properly installed chimney flashing can last anywhere from 15 to 50 years. However, flashing generally only needs to be replaced when it is damaged, corroded, or no longer creates a watertight seal. Several factors influence its longevity, including the material type, quality of installation, and local climate. For example, copper flashing tends to last longer than galvanized steel. Large storms and extreme weather can also damage flashing, potentially requiring earlier replacement. To ensure its longevity, it is recommended to have your chimney and roof inspected annually. A professional can assess the flashing's condition and recommend any necessary repairs.
