"I paid 3500 for a new pine privacy fence. I was putting a sealer on it, and the fence gate was blown shut by wind and broke the latch. I took a look at the latch and realized how extremely cheap it was. I called the contractor to ask for a replacement, to which he told me it wasn’t cheap and that it couldn’t have been wind that broke it. I found a better, sturdier, latch at Lowe’s for 25 bucks and installed it myself. Disappointed that I paid a premium price but didn’t receive great service. Would not recommend."

Whether you plan to fix a small project, replace your roof, re-tile or remodel your bathroom, add granite counter tops in your kitchen, add a room, or remodel your entire home, you want an expert contractor and home or commercial improvement company on your side.

"I am unhappy with this service. I initally booked this service amd put plainly in the comments that I needed 4 outlets, 2 ceiling fans, light switches and power ran out to a 20x20 shed. I called and spoke to Amanda the day before, went over the project details again and got a list of items that we needed to purchase before they arrived. The day of service he arrived and claimed we didn't have everything. He then went to home depot to grab more things. When he came back we then discussed again what we needed done. He stated that, that wasn't what he was booked for. He did not install the ceiling fans or run power out to our shed as requested. He gave us a card and told us to to call to book him again and he would give us another estimate to finish the work. I feel like I was scammed out of my money. I would not use them again. This was my first time using Angi and I won't be using it again either."

Family owned and operated in the Columbus area since 1977.

"This is long but if you even for one second consider using them - you might want to read this. We had a small water leak under our kitchen cabinet January 15th 2023. USAA suggested Servpro of Columbus. Having been with USAA for 20+ years without issues - we didn’t think twice and got in touch. Our first mistake! Mediation was done quickly and then there was no contact or any communication or a clear timeline. One morning we had a knock on our door to find 2 guys claiming to be here to tear our wood floor out. We did not let them in and called and told Servpro to inform them that this just isn’t how this was going to work. We then got a project manager, Jonathan. We got some explanations and were sent to Home Depot to pick out new flooring (still confused how we had to go instead of being provided samples). We were told he “had a guy” that could match our kitchen cabinet that needed replacing instead of tearing the whole kitchen out. Workers came a few days later to tear the floor out. He didn’t have equipment to do it and had to go rent it (HUGE red flag in hindsight but we never dealt with anything like this and just didn’t know. They left huge chunks of glue and even wood on the floor that I unfortunately never got images of. They damaged walls and kitchen cabinets with the machine when taking out the floor. You can see in the photos how they thought the baseboards and quarter round should look. It looks like this through the whole first floor. Uneven beyond belief. Every single baseboard is uneven and has paint drips. They did NOT wipe down anything from the huge mess created by taking the floor out before they started painting. Every single baseboard, window frame, fireplace, door frame has wood dirt and particles painted into it. The carpet had paint drips on it, the new wood floor had paint on it (which they removed but it left the floor dull). They also got paint on our TV and when made aware of that - they used a razor blade to get it off which resulted into the TV screen to get scratched up. Nothing was covered before they started painting. At this point we are mid April. We noticed our living room floor was wet. Quickly realizing it came from the water spout that’s on the wall outside they repeatedly used. When calling Jonathan he told us we will have to just get a plumber and that it was not on his workers. After reviewing security camera footage we saw them using our water hose and “pulling” it tightly. The last straw was our kitchen cabinet being delivered - probably a good 4 weeks after we were promised it would be here). Not only was it far from a match but it was made from a different wood (which partially explains that it wouldn’t match). Jonathan was made aware of each issue throughout. We were done! USAA sent out an independent adjuster. He kept shaking his head and told us this was probably one of the worse jobs he has seen. Our new floor was already separating in places, was uneven, had a ton of hollow spots (they never prepped the cement before laying the new floor). After a LONG battle with a company USAA uses (a contract Connections) Servpro was found at fault for all items. They did not get paid and had to pay us for damages (the water hose leak, the TV, getting new baseboards and door/window frames and lots more). I am not going into the huge amount of other issues like cracking our granite counters, never being on time, awful communication, their contractors driving across our yard (we have a sprinkler system), washing their paintbrushes in our sink when repeatedly being told we are on a septic system and paint can’t go into it, and just in general being very unpleasant to deal with. And lots more small issues that all added up to a disaster. I have not had a functional kitchen since March. This sorry excuse of a company has ruined more than just our first floor. We were finally able to get a new company and I HIGHLY recommend Southeast Restoration. They will treat you right. Since my first phone call to them it has been night and day."

Furniture Reupholstery questions, answered by experts

Many upholsterers allow you to provide your own fabric, which can help control costs and ensure you get the exact style you want. Some upholsterers offer a selection of fabrics to choose from, while others may require you to purchase it at a fabric store. Be sure to check with your upholsterer about fabric suitability, required yardage, and any additional fees for using customer-supplied materials.

Furniture made from materials resistant to sun fading includes metals like aluminum, stainless steel, and wrought iron, as well as certain synthetic materials like polyethylene (commonly used in outdoor wicker furniture) and resin-based products. Glass tables and accents are also sun resistant. These materials inherently withstand UV rays and are less prone to fading or discoloration. Furniture with UV-resistant coatings or finishes, such as powder-coated metal or UV-protected plastics, offers enhanced protection against sun-induced fading.

Craftsmanship begins with detailed design followed by skilled artisans shaping high-quality materials into the desired furniture, ensuring durability and uniqueness.

It can be cheaper to reupholster a chair or other piece of furniture than to buy a new one, depending on how much it costs to replace. If the chair or couch originally cost less than $300, then reupholstery may not be the cheapest option. However, if the chair is expensive, vintage, or discontinued, reupholstery can be the more affordable option. This is especially true if the piece of furniture is out-of-production or holds sentimental value.

Upholstery reduces waste sent to landfills, limits resource consumption, and supports sustainable living practices, provided fabrics meet standards.
