"Day one Aaron made everything sound grand. Day 2 they tired installing cabinets for the custom book cases that had drawers and were not symmetrical in size. It had 2 small doors and one giant door that was the size of the two together. I informed him this was not what I asked for and it did not look right. Aaron said that was a matter of opinion. He also said the cabinets with the drawers were more expensive, that he was doing me a favor. Day 3 tried getting me to put something in that I repeatedly said I did not want. After I found a solution to custom order the doors, we agreed and shook on it. Two hours later calls me to say his “carpenter” would make them. As I’m standing there his worker informs him it would cost about the same to make as to order. He still insists they will make the doors. I made sure to say if they were not a perfect match, he would be ordering them. When they installed the bookshelves 3 are not level. The fireplace tiles are all uneven and you can see imperfections all over. The herth tiles are all crooked. The work was to be done in 5 days. This went on for 3 weeks. The second week they did not show or call for 2 days. By the 3rd week he didn’t return our calls or texts for 5 days. By the 5th day calls me, saying he needs his tools. Wanted me to leave my home unlocked so he could enter to get in. I did waited 3.5 hours and no one showed. The next day I started school and he threatened to call the police on us. My husband had to leave an extremely important meeting to let them in. We paid him 50% and everything needs to be ripped out and redone."

"We purchased a home in 2018 that was a massive fixer-upper, knowing that it was beyond our personal abilities to do ourselves. This is the fourth home that we have taken on in similar conditions. We did our due diligence, came up with our budget, and met with multiple contractors, architects, inspectors, etc. to see who would be willing to help us take on this project. After several meetings, we felt that The Shirley Group would be the best fit for undertaking this project with us. For the most part, we really enjoyed working with the Shirleys. They were responsive and worked hard to keep us in budget. I had to limit my review to a short amount of characters, but included the major issues we had after the fact. We had removed manufactured hardwoods and gone with their suggestion of putting down 5" oak true hardwoods in its place. Two days after the hardwoods went down, before staining, they started to warp and cup in multiple areas of the house. This was concerning a bit, as the wood had only had a couple of days to acclimate in the house, and it was when the (new) A/C had malfunctioned. The sub-contractor pulled up the areas that were warped and put down new pieces. The stain went down a day or two later, but again, the boards kept warping in those same areas. Over the span of the first year we were in the house, we had to relocate twice while they pulled up sections of wood, replaced, re-sanded and then re-stained. Each time they had to do so, the house was a disaster and required us to move furniture out, deep clean all the sanding dust, and move back in. Every time we saw another board warping, it was dreadful to think of doing this again. The last time the subcontractors came back in, we found black mold under the flooring as it was being removed. This discovery led us to find that the subcontractor never actually installed a moisture barrier on the slab, and had glued the boards directly to the concrete. We also found that the subs they used to install the exterior doors did not properly caulk or place leveling pads when they put in two sets of French doors, and a single door - therefore causing a perfect storm for water intrusion. Each time it rained, water was seeping in the sides of the doors, down the walls, and under the floors. The entire house started to smell of mold and we knew we had to take drastic measures to remediate the situation. We had to move our family of five (including a newborn baby), along with our three dogs out for sixty days to have all the repairs made. We incurred over $40,000 in costs and filed a claim with the Shirley's insurance company. The insurance covered approximately $21,000 in costs and told us to reach out to the builder's directly to cover the costs of the mold and remediation. We did so, asking for the Shirley's to cover around $8,000 in damages. When we did reach out to the Shirley's regarding the costs for the mold remediation, they went radio-silent and we haven't been able to get any resolution."

Workhorse Quality Construction LLC
Construction company focusing on high quality renovations but we do all work no job is to big or small
"Well I contacted Rob about a house I was looking to buy and renovate. He met with me, was super nice, took down everything I wanted to do, etc. I then paid him $150 for a proposal. That’s where the problems started. Although he set the deadline himself, I kept hearing ‘tomorrow, tomorrow’ when I would ask for an update. Finally got it back. It was a pretty vague list of things and rough prices attached (ex. just “floors - $X” - not “hardwood in middle bedroom,” “tile in the kitchen,” and so on) and a shoddy drawing of a layout with hardly any detail and certainly not drawn to scale. Maybe my expectations were off there. But I want a little more than that before I go take out a loan and hire you to do a $100K job, amirite? But whatever, whatever - put that aside. It comes down to when I’m going to have to make a decision, need to get him approved by my bank... POOF. GONE. Radio silence. Won’t answer calls. Won’t answer texts. Won’t answer emails. I said he could just let me know if he didn’t want to take this on, etc. Just nothing. Strange way to run a business. Especially when the job you want people to hire you for is usually time sensitive and requires excellent communication. Honestly, I hope he’s okay and if I hear otherwise, I’ll consider removing this. But without more information, I wanted to give an honest review and give folks a heads up that this could happen again."

"We gave a large job - about $12K to Ideal (owner - Nestor). This is a family business - wife, son and father. Initially they were very cooperative, worked with our designer for color selections etc. They completed the upper level and the basement level of our house quite well; but messed up the Main level of the house BIGGG time. The wooden planks are uneven, gaps between some planks, and no stain along some edges. After initial stain coat, I asked Nestor about paint sprays on the floors - he said 'Noo worry' I will take care of it. After the final coat I still see paint sprays. I spoke to Nestor and gave him an opportunity to fix. His wife and son came out, agreed it was bad work (see pictures attached) and assured to fix it in the next 2 or 3 days. Months later it is still not fixed and my phone calls are not being returned. I understand things get messed up sometimes....but a contractor who does not want to fix his screwups? You are forewarned!! Now, I have to pay double the price to fix the screwup... Side Note: We paid for the wood and Nestor picked it up from the supply store. About $250 worth of wood stored in the garage was to be returned. Nestor to return it Few days later, the wood disappeared from the garage and Nestor said he did not return the wood!! I cant say for sure who stole the wood, but I have my suspicions."
