"Larry came in with a very reasonable quote for the size of the job. The crew was excellent. They did a bit of drywall work we needed and it turned out great. They were careful with the furniture and covered everything, no messes. Results are great."

"Discount Pool and Patio is a great company to work with. Starting with our salesman(Tom), Natasha, Alex (construction supervisor) and all of the folks that worked on our job, all were pleasant and easy to work with. The job itself was to remodel our pool and patio. They did a wonderful job. The pool looks beautiful and the patio looks even better. This was a large job but was handled well. All of our questions were answered and I have never seen people working a job like this smile as much as these guys."

"The wood trim framing and surrounding the facia, windows, and doors needed replacement and restoration. Mario looked the problems over and gave us a quote to replace almost all the wood trim, 144 linear feet, with pressure treated lumber and two coats of paint. He explained exactly what would be done. His professional manner gave me the confidence to hire him. He worked his schedule around ours. He started when promised and spent the time to get the job done right. Originally he estimated it would take a day and a half. He ended up spending two and a half days to produce the finished product up to his standards. All the wood, including some pieces he did not need to replace, were caulked and painted to match. He and his crew worked hard in crazy Florida May heat to a professional product for us. We could not be happier. I would not hesitate to recommend Mario and SAGA."

"Everything seems to start off great. I was led to Celtic Pavers based on the reviews here on angieslist. Jim was kind enough to come out the same day to assess my driveway and backyard because he was in the neighborhood. Jim arrived when he said that he would, we talked for a little while, he gave me some ideas and he took some measurements. This was a Friday afternoon.
He said that he would have a quote and associated drawings back to me "when I wake up in the morning on Monday" I sent my survey to Jim on sunday afternoon which caused a delay in getting back the drawing. Later that same week I called JIm to follow up on where the quote and drawing was. He said that since I had waited to provide the survey, he couldn't have it to me by Monday morning as he originally said that he would. But, he said, "I'll have it to you when you wake up in the morning on Saturday". Sure enough saturday rolls along and no quote and no drawing. He said that he hadn't provided the drawing because it was kinko's fault.
To make a long story short, it took almost 2 weeks to get a quote, and almost a month later I still have no drawing.
Jim is actually a really nice guy, and apologetic when I called him to remind him that I was awaiting on his drawing. He said, "oh shoot, you are right, my fault, I will have it to you later this afternoon". This was after almost a month of waiting for it.
In short, I like Jim as a person but he really didn't follow through so obviously I can't recommend him.
Playing devils advocate here, my home is located in Miami Shores and Jim is out of Fort Lauderdale, so it may be that Jim just wasn't all that interested in allocating resources to my job all the way in Miami. Either way, I'll move on and use another contractor.

Gazebos questions, answered by experts

Common materials include wood, vinyl, and metal. Wood offers a classic look, while vinyl and metal are low-maintenance options.

Using concrete footers is the best way to secure a gazebo on a deck without drilling. The weight of the footers is more likely to hold your gazebo in place than other methods. You can also pour concrete into flower pots to create an aesthetically pleasing concrete footer or use concrete columns to make a statement.

On average, building or installing a gazebo costs around $5,700, with a typical range between $3,000 and $10,000. The final price depends on several factors, including the gazebo's size, shape, material, and design complexity. Material choice is a significant cost driver; for example, brick is often more affordable, while metal can be one of the more expensive options. Square-shaped gazebos can also be more expensive to build. Custom features, such as built-in seating or lighting, will increase the total price. You may be able to save money by purchasing a prefabricated gazebo kit or performing some of the labor yourself.

To make the gazebo accessible, you can build a wheelchair pathway leading up to it. The path should be paved with a smooth surface for wheelchairs to roll through. A low curb should be placed along each side to ensure the wheelchair stays on the path. At the end of the path, build a wheelchair ramp connecting the gazebo.

For many people, a gazebo is worth it, but it’s a matter of personal preference. If you love spending time outside but your yard doesn’t offer much protection from the sun or rain, then adding a gazebo might be worthwhile. Or, if you enjoy hosting dinner parties and want a nice outdoor space to gather with your friends, a gazebo could be a good investment.
