"Mike did our kitchen and bath cabinets as well as two walk-in closets roughtly 18 years ago and they still look amazing and are as sturdy as ever! In short, the quality of his work is unmatched. We are now preparing to renovate our kitchen and have hired Mike again to do the cabinets. He will also be building some built-in book shelves and a few other items. To be clear, we are doing this work just to change the style of the kitchen. If we wanted, the existing cabinets would last for years and probably decades! In addition to the quality of his work, Mike offers sound and well thoughtout advice in design and configuration. He has seen what works and what dosen't and will share that insight with you; however, he also knows that this is your home and will produce whatever you decide will work best for you. Lastly, Mike is an extremely nice person and acutally delivers what he promises when he promises. This is very refreshing in an industry known for over-promising and under delivering. Rest assured, your experience with Mike will restore your confidence in the professional trades."

"We had K2 install Crown Molding in 4 bedrooms. The work was professional, clean, punctual and overall 5 star's. He installed, caulked, filled, sanded and painted all the trim. Where the room was too large for a single piece the joints were invisible. If we did not see it installed we would have had a hard time finding where they meet. I would and have highly recommended K2 to my family and friends."

Closets questions, answered by experts

The differences between a built-in closet and a walk-in aren’t that different from a built-in wardrobe and a walk-in closet. It’s fairly simple—a walk-in closet is a closet you can physically enter, stand in, and walk around in. A built-in (whether wardrobe or closet) is more akin to covered shelves installed into a recess in the wall. Another big difference is walk-in closets almost always have traditional full-size doors, while built-ins either have no doors or use sliding doors.

There are certainly luxury upgrades you can make but you can seriously improve the look and functionality of a closet without spending much money. Color matching will make the closet seem bigger so any shelves painted the same as the wall is a good tip. While pre-made closet organizers may seem expensive they offer an aesthetic look that's hard to achieve with DIY methods. Lastly, removing clutter and unworn items will help the closet seem bigger and cleaner.

The time it takes to build a closet varies widely depending on the project's size, complexity, and level of customization. On average, construction can take anywhere from a few days to two weeks.

A simple reach-in closet might be completed in less than a day, while a more complex walk-in closet could take one to two days or more. A typical project often falls in the 2-to-5-day range. However, a large, highly customized walk-in closet that requires structural changes, like moving a load-bearing wall, will take significantly longer.

A professional contractor can provide the most accurate time estimate for your specific project. If you are planning a DIY build, it is best to budget additional time.

If you have a bathroom closet with movable shelves, you can place them at virtually any spacing that works for you. Useful measurements between shelves in the working, or middle, section can be 10 to 16 inches for towels or linens. Lower or higher shelving could be up to 24 inches between shelves to store lesser-used or bulky items or boxes.

The features you choose for your laundry room to make it perfect depend largely on how you'll use the space, the size of your family, and their laundry needs. A perfect laundry room will have ample storage space, a clothes washer and dryer that are large enough for your needs and have good convenience features, and enough room to move around and work with enough countertop space to make laundry chores as easy as possible.
