"Keys To Do, LLC provided a bid for the fence replacement that I requested from them. They came the next business day after I contacted them. I will call them again if I have another project to be done."

"⭐⭐⭐⭐⭐ M&R Paint & Reno did an amazing job. From the first conversation through completion of the project, they were punctual, respectful, and easy to work with. The crew took the time to do the job right instead of rushing, and the finished work came out beautiful. I especially appreciated how responsive they were whenever I had a question. It’s hard to find contractors you can count on, and I would definitely use M&R Paint & Reno again. Highly recommended for anyone in the Florida Keys."

"Josue was at least 10 minutes early and was waiting outside our gate, but did not bother us prior to our appointment time. He was extremely courteous and professional. He performed quality work and cleaned up the entire job site. I was very pleased with all aspects of the job and asked him for estimates to perform additional drywall work in another area of our home and to paint the interior and exterior of our home."

Drywall questions, answered by experts

New plaster must be fully dry and cured before painting. The drying time for plaster ranges from 1 to 4 hours, but the curing process can take more than five days, depending on various factors, including humidity levels, temperature, the amount of plaster used, and airflow in the area. You should always apply primer before painting plaster.

If you want to reduce sound transmission throughout your home, soundproofing drywall is a better choice than standard drywall. However, simply installing soundproofing drywall may not completely block out noise. You’ll get the best results from incorporating it into a larger soundproofing plan that includes proper insulation and framing studs.

You can put certain types of plaster over other types, but doing so isn't always the best idea. For example, putting a coat of gypsum over lime plaster is possible, but doing so will limit the lime plaster's breathability and potentially affect its performance.

Since cement plaster tends to leave a textured surface, no matter how much you smooth it, some people prefer to use gypsum plaster as a topcoat over cement plaster, creating a smoother surface.

If you’re installing new drywall, you may need to skim coat the drywall first for a smooth finish and to allow the primer to adhere to the wall. It’s only necessary if there are imperfections in your drywall due to issues with the studs or improper drywall installation. If you’re refreshing existing walls, you may want to skim coat if there are imperfections across the wall. As an alternative, you can repair your drywall and sand it for a smooth finish before painting.

Drywall tape is made of paper, while drywall mesh is made of fiberglass or metal. Drywall mesh patches are suitable for repairing small holes in drywall, while paper drywall tape holds a crease better for corners. You need joint compound to adhere drywall tape to the wall, while mesh patches may be self-adhesive.
