"Even though this company has only been in business for one year, the quality of work from Nestor shows his 13 years experience. I recently had Nestor and his team in my home to do some finish work (baseboards, doors, door jams, and painting). The demo crew I had hired left Nestor and his team quite a mess (that we didn't expect), and Nestor handled it with complete professionalism. He explained everything for me in great detail and was polite, respectful, and informative. I will hire Nestor and his team again and look forward to working with him in the future."

Thank You! I have completed all types of “Handyman” type jobs over the years, from assembly, carpentry, electrical, plumbing, painting, flooring and many more.\nI recently retired early @ the young age 😎 of 62 and am looking to put my talents/experience to work for you.\nIf you are looking for a competent, skilled, and caring person to help on projects around your home, I would enjoy discussing further with you.\nI will probably not be the “Cheapest” guy but will get the job done as I would do for myself……. Done Right the First Time. My pricing is very fair for the work that will be performed and completed in a very timely manner.\nI have a $150 Minimum charge for any work performed. Remember, Angi / Home Advisor has a lead charge between $25 - $50. each for accepted job opportunities, even if you do not get the job.\nAgain, if you are looking for a Professional Handyman with many skill sets, I welcome the opportunity to discuss and complete this work for you.\nRespectfully!\nJohn

Locksmiths questions, answered by experts

Expect to pay between $50 to $200 if you hire a locksmith to change your locks. That figure includes labor and the cost of basic hardware. The cost will naturally be higher if you plan to install more expensive locks, like smart locks, and if you need a lot of them.

Homeowners can save money by replacing locks themselves. A typical rekeying kit costs about $10 to $25. The only additional cost is purchasing new house keys, and those are no more than a few dollars per key. If you want to replace the locks on your own completely, the main cost is the price of the locks themselves. A standard knob-style lock starts around $25, while electronic locks and smart locks will run in the hundreds of dollars. The only additional tools you should need are a tape measure, screwdriver, and screws if they are not already provided.

When the temps drop, sometimes you need to thaw a lock to regain access. Options include warming the key with warm water, applying a de-icing spray, or using a hair dryer on low heat. Avoid using boiling water to prevent damage. To prevent future freezing, consider installing a cover or shield over the lock to keep water and ice out. Remember to be patient and gentle during thawing to avoid damaging the lock or key. If all else fails, consult a professional locksmith.

In general, keyless door locks are considered safe, and their security depends on the type and quality of the lock. They cannot be picked like a traditional lock and often include added features like biometric access, PIN codes, and smartphone connectivity, which can make them more secure. However, they are not without risks. Potential vulnerabilities include hacking for Wi-Fi-connected models, battery failure, power outages, and technical malfunctions. To maximize security, it is important to choose a reliable brand, stay on top of software updates, and perform regular maintenance. While the risks are different, keyless locks are not considered more dangerous than traditional locks.

Many local hardware stores have the equipment to copy basic keys at a low cost. Some locations may have freestanding machines where you can pick out a blank and insert it and your original key into the duplicating machine.

Using a combination of tools (often store-bought plumbing tools) and brute force, a burglar can easily snap the lock on a door. Snapping a lock aims to gain access to the cylinder inside, which holds the locking mechanism. Once the thief snaps the lock, they can pick the cylinder open and walk right in.
