"Once concrete was dried and we were able to check it out, we noticed splatters on the house and on the screen, our fire pit blocks were knocked over and the biggest issue was that the pitch on a 10 ft span was 3 1/2 inches. He was aware of the fire pit because we saw him trying to kick it back into place but was going to leave it until I brought that and the other issues to his attention. The next day, they cut the concrete, but did not fix the fire pit, clean the concrete off house or address the sloping issue. I called again and he spoke to me and my husband, with him saying we didn't build the fire pit correctly and asked my husband what he thought the slope should be...... Then the next day, 4 guys came in my yard as fast as they could, threw some adhesive on the fire pit and tried to make it look ok, cleaned the metal on the lanai (not the house or screen) and told me this about the 3 1/2 inch slope "Oh Bob didn't say to fix it.", "Told us not to add more dirt to pour concrete on existing dirt", "We could tear it all up and re-pour." They said they'd speak to Bob about it and let us know. It's been over a week now and we never hear back. Bob was on-site during the concrete pouring for about 30 min, and then at the end to collect his money."

Customers say: True professional

"Ryan and his guys really knocked it out of the park. Kind, professional and seriously first class. I can't believe how great the whole process went. I found Sterling Contractor Services on social media and Ryan came out took the time to walk me through the process and gave me a great quote. The day of the job he and the guys showed up removed the 150ft of old falling fence a got it replaced with a beautiful privacy fence. Everyone was so amazing and they really went above and beyond. Treating the job like it was at thier own home. I will be keeping them on speed dial for everything."

Customers say: Quality work

"Ruben and his crew did a excellent job resetting the bricks on our house and replacing the mortar between the brick. He was excellent to work with and kept me informed the entire time. He was patient with us as we had to wait for the lift company to finish stabilizing our house before he could begin. His went right to work once everything was stabilized. He provided excellent service and price!! I will definitely be calling them again for future concrete work!"

"Dex came out and did a thorough inspection of the house, showed me the options and quoted me a good price. Mike and his assistant showed up on the scheduled day bright and early and knocked out 7 piers in just over 3 days. The main wall they were working on had all the utilities and the guys didn't disturb a thing. When they were done, they cleaned up everything and left the yard in amazingly good shape considering all the big holes they had to dig. Lux was not only very competent and professional, but they were genuinely very nice people. I highly recommend Lux for all your foundation needs."

Concrete Cutting questions, answered by experts

The best thing to cut metal pipe is a durable pipe cutter that is made for metal. You may want to measure the diameter of the pipes before purchasing a pipe cutter to ensure it will be able to cut your metal pipes. Opt for a heavy-duty option to cut through metal like steel or cast iron.

Yes, but you’ll need reliable steel-cutting tools and safety gear to get started. Shipping containers are typically around ¾ inch thick, so it’s entirely possible to cut through them, but experience and the right equipment are very important. When possible, try to get a container as close to the size you want it as possible.

The cost to weld aluminum averages about $14 to $22 per pound. The type of metal factors into the overall cost of any welding project due to the cost of the materials and the expertise required to work with it. Some of the most common metals used by welders include:

  • Magnesium alloy: $7–$16 per pound

  • Low-carbon steel: $11–$12 per pound

  • Stainless steel: $13–$15 per pound

  • Copper/brass: $24–$29 per pound

  • Cast iron: $38–$79 per pound

  • Titanium: $60–$85 per pound

Cutting round ductwork requires precision and the right tools. A duct cutter, specifically designed for circular ducts, is ideal. First, mark the cutting line on the duct using a measuring tape and pencil. Then, position the duct cutter's blade on the marked line. Apply steady pressure, rotating the cutter around the duct. The sharp blade creates a clean, precise cut. Alternatively, a reciprocating saw with a metal-cutting blade can be used for larger round ducts. Ensure the duct is securely held in place while making the cut to prevent slips and maintain accuracy.

Yes, you can use a saw to cut metal pipes. The best saw to use is a reciprocating saw, but even a fine-tooth hacksaw can get the job done. No matter which saw you use to cut metal pipes, wear protective gear, like work gloves, safety goggles, and ear plugs. Apply a firm, steady pressure to the tool, and always ensure the pipes are secured so they don't move while you make the cuts.
