"They responded within a reasonable time made a temporary repair and, after determining the warranty status of our unit, ordered a replacement part. A day or two later the owner followed up with the replacement part and we were back in business. We were very pleased with their service and the straightforward way they conduct their business. They will now be our A/C company."

"Excellent service - extremely knowledgeable - quick response time (and this was the first time I ever used them) - more-than-fair price - A+ for customer service, from the moment I placed the call - they surely knock the socks off any possible competitor!! Can you tell I am thrilled with their service and now a customer for life? Larry is the owner, and he is the A/C pro you'll get to do all the work. I was without A/C since yesterday, and called my usual company in Bradenton... the same company that sold me the unit 2 years ago and has been servicing it since - but NO longer, now that I know of Trost Heating and Cooling. Get this - I hadn't heard back from my company about a service time for over 3 hours, so I called Trost. Larry immediately pinpointed and fixed the recurring problem I had been having with my unit - and did so even before the other company finally got back to me. It turned out to be the drain line hadn't been pitched properly when installed. Also, Larry told me I've been using the wrong size filter, and installed a correct one for me. Again, that dang company that installed the unit (LP??) never once told me it took an irregular size, and their techs were out here several times putting in the filters I provided. They sure lost me as a customer...and you better believe I will spread the word about how good Larry Trost is. Bottom line: great company - unbeatable customer service - excellent price - prompt and reliable - customer for life!!! Plus, when you use them, they won't try to upswell you like so many others do. "Mr. Ferrell first connected his computer to my computer via internet and worked for quite a few hours trying to determine what exactly was wrong. The next day he continued working from his computer for several hours. He determined he would have to have my desktop tower to complete the repair. He and my son met in Huntsville to exchange the tower. He then cleaned up a lot of what was wrong and reloaded Windows 10. He deleted the D: drive which had way too much memory allotted to it. The tower was returned and I plugged it all back together and it is working better than it did when I first purchased it. I would use him again and I recommend him highly to anyone needing computer updating and/or repair. His work is warrantied and he is very personable, knowledgeable, and helpful."

Humidifier Repair questions, answered by experts

NATE-certified technicians may charge slightly higher service fees compared to non-certified technicians. This is because NATE certification signifies a higher level of expertise and professionalism, often leading to more efficient and effective HVAC repairs and installations. While the upfront cost may be marginally higher, NATE-certified technicians can potentially save you money in the long run by reducing energy consumption, preventing frequent breakdowns, and extending the life span of your HVAC system. When looking for a local HVAC company to hire, it never hurts to ask about NATE certifications.

There are some physical signs you need to have a humidifier that manifest as signs in your home and body. For the home, Watch for cracked and peeling paint, dry wooden flooring and furniture, excessively loud creaking wooden floors or doors, and an increase in the electricity needed to cool or heat the home. Physical symptoms include frequent dry air passages, Scratchy throat, increased allergy symptoms, and dry eyes.

For certain repairs, a plumber may be able to help fix a humidifier, but HVAC technicians are typically the go-to professionals. The most common humidifier repairs that plumbers handle are humidifier water shutoffs, solenoid valve maintenance, and evaporator pad replacement.

During your HVAC preseason maintenance call, your contractor will inspect the system for any problems and make small adjustments for better efficiency. Tasks include, though are not limited to:

  • Changing filters

  • Checking the thermostat

  • Clearing away dust and debris

  • Checking for mold

  • Inspecting electrical elements

  • Inspecting condensate lines and drain

  • Cleaning evaporator coils

  • Ensuring ignition function

While you can do some of these services yourself, hiring a professional to keep HVAC equipment running can be helpful. These experts know what to look for and may be able to spot potential issues before they become problems. Many HVAC companies offer annual maintenance plans.

Several styles of HVAC dampers exist, some with motors and some without. The various types include butterfly, blade, louvered, guillotine, and more. The names describe their construction style and how air moves through them. Motorized versions work through wiring connected to a control panel within the HVAC system. Manual versions allow an operator to decide which way to send the airflow and make the adjustment by hand.
