"Steve is professional and delightful. He was patient about answering my questions and showing me how to access music on my computer. Since problems with my first computer couldn't be resolved in my home, he worked on it and returned in a few days having found several serious problems and corrected them. I was impressed that he was willing to travel a long distance just to service my computers. While this made it difficult to keep to a strict schedule, I will call him again when I need help."

"This is our second time using Smart Home Services and, as usual, they were great. The owner remembered that my husband is "more technical" than the average consumer and sent out a tech that matched his knowledge. The fireplace wall is a challenge being made of cinderblock and our guy did a fantastic job and stayed as late as he needed to get the job done. Couldn't be more pleased with this company and every experience we've had with them."

Home Automation questions, answered by experts

Choosing a high-quality home stager can mean the difference between your home flying off the shelves or sitting on the market for weeks or months, and it all starts with verifying the stager’s experience. You can start by asking how long the professional has been in the business, and you should also ask for references and examples of past work in your particular area. Ask the stager about your options, including virtual staging, furniture rental, and other preparation services.

The average cost to stage a home is around $1,800, with most sellers paying between $800 and $2,800 for professional services. However, the total cost can vary significantly, ranging from $500-$600 for an initial consultation to $5,000 or more for comprehensive, full-home staging.

The final price depends on several factors, including the home's size, location, and condition, as well as the number of rooms being staged. Other key cost drivers include whether you need to rent furniture, the quality of the decor, the stager's experience, and the duration of the staging services. The scope of the project also plays a role, from virtual staging and simple decluttering to full-service design, which may involve repairs and maintenance.

The impact of a walk-in tub on home value depends on various factors, including market demand, demographic preferences, and overall home features. While some buyers may view it as a desirable accessibility feature, others might see it as a niche amenity, potentially limiting the pool of interested buyers. However, it could add value if the walk-in tub meets specific needs or enhances the property's appeal to a target demographic. Ultimately, its effect on home value varies case by case, with factors like installation quality, design, and neighborhood trends playing roles in determining its impact.

Understanding the advantages and disadvantages of hiring a home staging service can help determine if it’s the right choice for you.

Pros

  • Helps your listing stand out among other local homes

  • Sell your home faster

  • Increase the value of your home

  • Help potential buyers envision the space as their own

Cons

  • Significant upfront costs

  • Storage cost for items and furniture that don’t fit in the staged rooms

  • Significant time and effort required for renovations and repairs

  • Potential furniture rental costs

Yes, staging a home really works and can help your home sell faster, potentially for a higher price than if you did not use a home staging service. According to the National Association of Realtors, 48% of seller’s agents reported home staging decreased a home’s time on the market.

Plus, 20% of buyer’s and seller’s agents claimed home staging increased home sale prices by 1% to 5%. Although decluttering and cleaning help a home sell, staging can take your home’s curb appeal to the next level, helping to expedite the process and increase your profit.
