"They called right away and was very friendly and explained what could be wrong. I received excellent advice on fixing my central vacuum. The motor is fine , but I needed a new 30 foot hose. It was old and clogged and lessened my suction. Roger ordered and is sending me a new hose."

"Chad did a wonderful job. This was the second job he did for me, and both times were fantastic. I would definitely recommend him. Very careful to not drip on new carpet or floors, he painted all the walls, trim, ceilings, along with two interior doors, in my two bedroom townhouse. Very thorough job, the new paint looks great. He also patched the walls as needed (nail holes from wall hangings and a wallboard seam). I paid half upfront and half upon completion, worth every penny."

"We selected Intelligent Environments to install a "Smart Home? system. We had planned on getting a universal remote and adding speakers around our home with volume knobs. After meeting with Victor we went with a Savant system and some LED cabinet lights. The system was installed on schedule and does more than we expected. We can control our sound system, TV, kitchen cabinet lights and Alarm all from our phones-we love it! Great company and the installer Mario gave us his cell phone for after hours help. Highly recommend the guys at Intelligent Environments.

Central Vacuum Systems questions, answered by experts

It can be difficult to know right away if your central vacuum is clogged since it operates quietly compared to regular vacuums. However, there are a couple of signs you can look for. If you feel like it’s losing suction or isn’t cleaning effectively, then there’s likely a clog somewhere.

Make sure you turn the vacuum on and feel the end of the hose handle. If you don’t feel any suction, then you’re dealing with a clog in the hose. You can see if the clog is further down in the system by attaching the hose to each outlet until you find the one with the least amount of suction.

Maintaining your central vacuum cleaner is crucial to extending its lifespan. Ensuring the filter is cleaned or changed often is vital to ensuring clogs don’t impact your motor. In addition, inspecting motor brushes regularly and lubricating the engine when needed helps keep it in tip-top shape. Finally, cleaning the central vacuum hose of dirt and debris helps keep clogs at bay, especially if you’ve vacuumed something wet or sticky.

The best way to clean central vacuum pipes is to use a maintenance sheet to dislodge clogs and wipe the inside of the pipes clean. Alternatively, a professional can clean your central vacuum pipes for you.

While caulking is handy for quite a bit of jobs, it’s still limited. Any crack or gap larger than 1/4 inch is best left for a more intensive repair job. When you hire house painters, they should run a thorough check to see what they need to repair before they start the job.

Large repairs that caulking typically won’t do well with include cracks or holes larger than a 1/4 inch, rotted wood, or metal surfaces, such as garage doors.

Regular cleaning, sealing, and inspections help identify problems early and maintain aesthetics.
