"Over the course of several months (since June 26th) and coming back to my unit multiple times, I hired this company for a leak. They supposedly repaired it, didn't really do the full scope of work. After repairing my drywall, the drywall collapsed again due to the continuing leak. They were able to find the problem and then sealed it, but didn't do a good job in the sealing, so continues to leak. I expressed my concerns to the owner of the company, who then apologized and proceeded to want to reimburse me. Several hours later, after phone call communication, which was extremely rude and unprofessional, he did not want to continue to work on my unit in the future. I find this behavior so unprofessional to leave somebody with a job half done. If you're going to do a job, you should complete it 100%. Otherwise, why do it? He sends his staff, who at times demonstrate incompetency. Very frustrating to have this continue to happen, having to pay extra money again to get the drywall repaired, as well as all the time I've taken away from work because they did want to take the time to fully access this entire job. After telling him about heavy condensation dripping from various parts on the vents and the wall to my unit. Unbelievable."

Appliance Repair questions, answered by experts

Refinishing an appliance is often less expensive than buying a new appliance. But if your appliance is heavily dented, refinishing it won’t cover that damage. Also, for old appliances that aren’t in good working order, a coat of paint won’t help. It’s a safer long-term solution to replace old, faulty appliances

You might also consider refinishing your appliances if you want to achieve fun colors. For example, you might not be able to find a cobalt-blue refrigerator for the funky, retro kitchen of your dreams, but refinishing the fridge can help you achieve that aesthetic.

There are a few factors to consider if you’re deciding between repairing and replacing your air conditioner. It’s probably worth fixing the AC unit if it’s less than 10 years old, you’re dealing with a one-off issue, and your warranty or maintenance plan will cover the repairs. On the other hand, if your air conditioner is dated, inefficient, out of warranty, and experiencing multiple problems, consider replacing it.

Generally, it will take a few hours, considering the removal of old units and installation adjustments.

When thinking about repairing or replacing an oven, considering the “50% rule” will help you the most. This rule states that if your oven is over 50% of the way through its lifespan, or the cost of the repair is more than 50% of the price of a new oven, then replacing it will be more cost-effective in the long run.

However, if you have a newer oven that only requires a simple fix, there’s no need to scrap it altogether. Taking care of the more minor repairs will help you get the most out of your oven for longer.

Usually, surfaces that heat up or begin to glow when in use are traditional electric cooktops. Induction ranges only warm slightly, and often do not have an indicator that they are turned on (though some newer models have lights to mimic the glow of electric units). Because induction stovetops don’t get very hot, they are considered safer than electric units.
