"I cannot say enough about All Right Paving Co. I shared an inspiration photo and Dennis and his team went all out to achieve my vision of inspiration. My paver patio is beautiful. My husband loves it and cannot stop raving about it. Their work was quality, with a life time guarantee. The team cleaned up afterwards and my patio is beautiful. A must hire!"

"⭐⭐⭐⭐⭐ RK Construction USA did an excellent job on my driveway. The team was professional, reliable, and communicated clearly throughout the entire project. They properly graded and compacted the base, applied the tack coat, and installed the asphalt with a smooth, clean finish. They arrived on time, worked efficiently, and left the property clean when the job was completed. The quality of the work exceeded my expectations, and the driveway looks great. I highly recommend RK Construction USA to anyone looking for dependable, high-quality paving and construction services."

"Hired Ed Ryan to enclose a large rear porch and convert it into two bedrooms and a small home office and a 23 foot by 7 foot rear patio. Ed was very professional and easy to work with. He was really good about keeping us informed sharing the good and bad news as the project progressed. We are very pleased with end result. The project took longer than we had planned but it was because of delays with the city's plan approval process. We almost did not choose him because he was the low bidder out of five we interviewed. So glad we did. Quality work, fair price, and easy to work with. We recommend him."

Patios questions, answered by experts

A screened-in porch can add value to your home, but it won’t count toward the total square footage at an appraisal or when it comes time to sell. A screened-in porch is not fully enclosed, usable year-round, insulated, or heated or cooled, so it doesn’t meet the requirements of livable square footage in most locations.

The life span of your solarium will depend on the materials used and how much wear and tear the room experiences from the inside and from the outside due to weather. On average, you can expect your solarium to last anywhere from 10 years to 50 or more. In rare cases, such as with old estates, solariums can last over 100 years.

Whether it's better to add a sunroom or a regular room to your home depends on your goals. If you need extra bedrooms, building rooms with four standard walls makes more sense than adding a sunroom. If you don't need extra sleeping areas but would like to expand the living space of your home, a sunroom makes sense.

The least expensive way to enclose a porch is with screens. These protect the room by preventing insects from entering and, if you live in a warm climate, provide excellent airflow during hot summer months. Screens cost far less than any other alternative, so if you are against getting permits, spending too much, or enclosing your porch in walls or glass, screens are the best choice.

Several types of porches are available to meet your needs and style preferences. Some common porch types include:

  • Porticos are essentially a roof over a walkway leading to the home's front entrance.

  • Sunrooms are closed-in porches that are an extension of the house with glass or plastic panels that allow optimal sunlight.

  • Wraparound porches extend around the entire home, or at least the front and one side, and offer multiple entrances to the house.

  • Back porches are an extension of the home’s floor into the outdoors. These offer more protection and privacy than a deck.
