"Mr. Lewis was hired based on his excellent reviews to paint our rental property in Destin. He exceeded our expectations. We live out of town and relied upon Mr. Lewis to give us an estimate and then complete the job. He updated us daily with photos and by phone. The interior painting was exceptional. He was very neat and detailed with his work. He is a hard worker and honest. We have utilized many vendors over the years with this property and Mr. Lewis by far is the easiest and best we have worked with. My husband and I highly recommend his company without reservation."

"Glenn is an excellent painter with many years of experience. He finished a not so fun project that involved interior doors, trim and wall painting on my 1960’s home with plaster walls. Glenn is trustworthy, detailed, but quick and efficient. Job was completed while I was at work so saved me a lot of time."

"This small company does outstanding work. The skill level of owner Jeff Chevillet and his assistant Eddie when caulking and painting with trim brushes and rollers was outstanding and the quality of latex paint used was the best. They worked quickly and efficiently with little or no mess, used razor blades to remove any paint on windows and thoroughly cleaned up after the work was complete. They showed up on time and did what they said that they would do. The exterior repairs using 1 x 6, 2 x 6 and hardipanel was quality work done quickly. I highly recommend this company for like work."

"We have a lot of good things to say about Mark and son Michael’s work.. their prep, paint and attention to detail. The job was removing popcorn from a large ceiling, mudding and texturing seams in a raised ceiling, painting ceilings, walls and baseboards. We are real happy to be back into our family rm, kitchen and dining rms. We gladly give Pro Paint owner Mark Wimmer 4.5 stars"

Interior Painting questions, answered by experts

It’s a good idea to sand your porch before painting. This will remove loose or chipped paint and debris, and give you a cleaner surface so that your new paint goes on smoothly. But if the existing surface is in good condition, it’s not necessary to sand your porch before you paint.

When a window is painted shut, this means that paint has gotten into the cracks when window sashes or window frames were being painted. It’s pretty easy for this sort of thing to happen while painting, but sometimes homeowners will use paint to seal drafty windows, which will often cause them to get stuck shut.

You should ask a few questions to ensure that your potential lead removal professional is experienced and qualified to handle lead-paint abatement safely, legally, and properly.

  • What are your qualifications and experience removing lead-based paint?

  • Are you licensed and certified to remove lead-based paint?

  • How do you test for lead paint?

  • What methods do you use for lead-based paint abatement?

  • What do you plan to do with the hazardous material when you remove it from the home?

  • Do you do replacement and painting work or removal only?

The best way to remove lead paint is by wet hand sanding and removing all dust and residue with a HEPA vacuum. Professionals may also strip and scrape lead-based paint with a paint scraper. In some cases, you may choose to have a pro encapsulate or enclose your lead-based paint surface by covering it with a sealant or a new material. You may also choose to replace the material altogether.

Removing paint from brick can have both aesthetic and practical value. Some people prefer the timeless look of bare brick, making it worthwhile to remove old paint layers. Brick also lasts longer when unpainted, as paint traps moisture, causing the brick to deteriorate more quickly. If your brick walls are already in bad shape, stripping the paint off might do more harm than good.
