"We hired Florida concrete concepts on 06/24. Met with Dayton, would was on HomeAdvisors. He came out the same day, was able to give a reasonable quote and could start the following week. They did a super job. They were on time and wow, do they work hard! They replaced the cracked broke up driveway and added an extension to the side of the house! We did a revision after they have framed everything and he was very helpful and took care of it the next morning. He stated it would be done within the week as long as no rain. They finished this morning and it looks beautiful! They were all professional and it looks amazing. His price was really good for everything he did. I’d recommend them to anyone. I will post pictures on the FB wall! Sue metzler Milton, FL"

"Robert give an estimate 10 days out, called me to keep me updated on start day. Crew showed up on time, removed old driveway and hauled old concrete away. Crew formed and made area ready for pour. Next day At 6am concrete and crew show up and poured 22 yards of mix. I was extremely pleased with work and the attitude of the crew. Would recommend for any concrete needs."

Concrete Resurfacing questions, answered by experts

To improve the appearance of concrete steps, you can repair any damage, refresh the surface, and add decorative elements. For crumbling, chipping, or broken sections, consider concrete resurfacing or light repair. If the surface is intact but discolored, applying a coat of paint, stain, or concrete sealer can refresh its look; reapplying a sealer every one to two years is recommended for maintenance. For a quick enhancement, you can also add decorative items like potted plants, garden statues, lanterns, or decorative railings to spruce up the area.

If your cement garage floor is sinking and cracking, your first step should be to call a local structural engineer to assess the problem. They can determine if it’s a minor amount of sinking related to normal settlement or if the issue is structural in nature. If you do have structural damage, the engineer or a foundation repair company that you hire will come up with a plan to fix the issue, which often consists of mudjacking for less severe issues or underpinning for more extensive problems.

Deciding whether to repair, resurface, or replace your concrete driveway depends on its age, condition, and the cost of the potential work.

If your driveway is over 20 years old and showing significant deterioration, replacement is often the best option. Similarly, if the cost of repairs is 50% or more of the replacement value, it's more cost-effective to replace it. For newer concrete with minor issues, resurfacing can be a good choice, especially if you have maintained it well with regular sealing.

For a definitive recommendation, contact a reputable concrete contractor. They can assess the driveway's condition and advise whether repair, resurfacing, or a full replacement (which costs between $1,400 and $12,100) is the most sensible path.

Efflorescence can damage a concrete slab for two to three years. After that, it resolves on its own once the surrounding salts are gone.

For handy homeowners, concrete projects are DIYable, and DIYing is a good way to save on the cost of a concrete slab, walkway, or other concrete work. If you’re completing a larger project or one that’s subject to building codes, you should always hire a professional to ensure the job is done safely and correctly.
