"I had the pleasure of working with Salto Angel Insulation for an attic insulation installation, and I couldn't be more satisfied with the results! From the initial consultation to the final walkthrough, the experience was seamless and professional. The team arrived on time and was incredibly respectful of my home. They took the time to explain the insulation options available, discussing the benefits of each type and helping me choose the best fit for my needs. Their knowledge and expertise were evident, making me feel confident in my decision. During the installation, the crew worked efficiently and carefully, ensuring that every corner of my attic was properly insulated. They were meticulous in their approach, taking care to clean up after themselves and leaving the space in pristine condition. It was evident that they take great pride in their work. Not only has the insulation made a noticeable difference in regulating the temperature in my home, but I also expect to see significant savings on my energy bills moving forward. It’s a relief to know that I’ve made an investment that will pay off in the long run. Overall, I highly recommend Salto Angel Insulation for attic insulation installation. "My wife checked out this company out before we called them. We needed to have new insulation installed due to a recent repair to an air duct our home. I called a few places for a quote and this company offered the better price with a guarantee. They did what they said and we are happy with the results. Recommended."

"I am happy I called these guys to insulate our garage and attic. They were on time and gave a very fair price I am glad I called them because they are also very nice and friendly. Most of all, I am very happy with the fact that they not only did as what they were told but also told us that the rest of the house was properly insulated and need no extra insulation. Thanks for the honesty."

"CJS air was such a pleasure to work with! Punctual, professional and friendly. Claudia visited our home for an estimate and returned the next day with scaffolding to clean all of our ducts. She stayed until 8pm to finish the job and emailed me before and after photos when the work was complete. We received another estimate from Sears but they tried to upcharge us for all sorts of things. Call CJS!"

Insulation questions, answered by experts

Mineral wool wraps are the most affordable and effective insulation for crawl space ducts. They are easy to cut, last for a long time, and healthier for humans. Meanwhile, fiberglass wraps are cheaper but more hazardous and difficult to handle. If you do choose to use a fiberglass wrap, make sure you are wearing long sleeves and wear proper protective gear.

You should not use spray foam insulation in several specific areas. Avoid applying it in spaces exposed to high temperatures, such as near electrical boxes or recessed lighting, unless the foam is specifically rated for such use. Applying foam near electrical boxes can damage the wiring, and using it too close to lightboxes or recessed lights creates a potential fire hazard. Additionally, do not use spray foam in areas prone to shifting or movement, as this can lead to cracks and gaps in the insulation. Finally, open-cell foam is unsuitable for use below ground or in areas exposed to moisture because it can absorb water, which compromises its insulating effectiveness.

The life span of fiberglass insulation can be as long as 80 to 100 years, but because of changing building codes, it’s best to get your insulation checked every 10 to 15 years. Signs of degrading fiberglass insulation include bits of batts on the floor or batts detached from frames. Having optimal, healthy insulation in your home will improve its energy efficiency, lowering your monthly bills.

Single-pane windows might let in the cold, but if you’re not ready for a long-term solution or window replacement, there are quick fixes to keep your space warmer. Start by sealing gaps with weatherstripping or caulking around the frame to block drafts. For an extra barrier, apply window insulation film to the glass, trapping an air pocket between the film and the window. Thick curtains or thermal drapes can also help keep the chill at bay. And if you’re in a pinch and looking to get creative, bubble wrap can provide a surprisingly effective layer of insulation—just spritz the window with water and press it on, bubble side in.

If you’re moving wires, installing new wires, or installing new fixtures in the space you’re insulating, then you will need to hire a licensed electrician to do that portion of the job for you. However, if you just intend on replacing old insulation or adding new insulation over existing insulation, then you don’t need to hire one. Your insulation installer will work around wiring, fixtures, outlets, and switches, even if they’re installing fiberglass batts in the voids where wires run. However, you will need an electrician if you suspect a problem with your wiring during the insulation work.
