"I had the pleasure of working with Salto Angel Insulation for an attic insulation installation, and I couldn't be more satisfied with the results! From the initial consultation to the final walkthrough, the experience was seamless and professional. The team arrived on time and was incredibly respectful of my home. They took the time to explain the insulation options available, discussing the benefits of each type and helping me choose the best fit for my needs. Their knowledge and expertise were evident, making me feel confident in my decision. During the installation, the crew worked efficiently and carefully, ensuring that every corner of my attic was properly insulated. They were meticulous in their approach, taking care to clean up after themselves and leaving the space in pristine condition. It was evident that they take great pride in their work. Not only has the insulation made a noticeable difference in regulating the temperature in my home, but I also expect to see significant savings on my energy bills moving forward. It’s a relief to know that I’ve made an investment that will pay off in the long run. Overall, I highly recommend Salto Angel Insulation for attic insulation installation. Their professionalism, expertise, and commitment to customer satisfaction truly set them apart. If you're considering insulation for your attic, look no further!"

"Attic Fanatics did an outstanding job from start to finish! The team was professional, punctual, and explained every step of the process clearly. They removed the old insulation, sanitized, sealed air leaks, and then installed new insulation — everything was done with attention to detail and care for our home. What impressed me most was how clean they left the job site and how much cooler and more comfortable our home feels now. They even shared before-and-after photos so we could see the difference in our attic. It’s rare to find a contractor that goes above and beyond like this. I would highly recommend Attic Fanatics to anyone looking for attic insulation or ductwork — you won’t be disappointed!"

"We found Star Construction through Angie's List. The project was a joy for us from start to finish. Leonard Feldman, of Star Construction, responded immediately to look at our house (he made a personal trip and spent quite some time with us) to enlarge our living area. Mr. Feldman is an unbelievably knowledgeable person who sat down with us, actually sketched out a plan and helped us budget for the work. He provided a detailed proposal with a reasonable price. He then engaged an engineer to draw up plans, made sure the permitting was achieved, and oversaw the project. His workmen did exactly what we expected in good time. We got what we asked for and nothing less (and even a little more). This was an anxiety-free project."

Insulation questions, answered by experts

For a DIY solution to protect an outdoor faucet from freezing, you can craft a cover using spare rags, a durable plastic bag, and duct tape. However, be aware that this method may not be as effective as a store-bought cover. Fabric like rags or old towels can absorb water, which could freeze and cause problems. While a DIY cover can work as a temporary stopgap, a proper outdoor faucet cover is inexpensive (often $5 or less), easy to install, and readily available, making it the recommended long-term solution.

R-30 insulation is better for higher thermal resistance, but whether it’s "better" depends on the application. R-30 is much thicker and suited for areas like attics or floors in cold climates, where more insulation is required. R-13, on the other hand, is thinner and works well for 2x4 walls or milder climates where less insulation is sufficient. Choosing between R-13 and R-30 depends on the area being insulated and the climate. For example, R-30 provides more insulation but may not fit everywhere in your home.

Yes, even though frost-free and freeze-proof faucets are designed to withstand winter weather, it is still recommended to cover them with an insulated cap, especially during periods of extreme cold. These faucets work by keeping excess water inside the home's heated space and using a downward slope to drain, but this protection can be compromised. For the faucet to work correctly, you must always disconnect any attached hoses before temperatures drop below freezing, as a hose can trap water and lead to freezing. Ultimately, covering all outdoor faucets, even freeze-proof models, is the best way to prevent frozen and burst pipes.

Yes, you should insulate behind shower walls. Insulating helps prevent heat loss, which keeps the shower or tub from getting too cold and helps maintain a comfortable temperature in your bathroom. Additionally, proper insulation and air sealing can help prevent wall rot and moisture buildup. It is recommended to use a high R-value rated foam insulation combined with a vapor barrier.

It’s technically possible to install loose-fill cellulose insulation without a blower, but it’s much more time-consuming, tedious, and dangerous. You’ll need to wear the proper protective coverings to handle the cellulose after it’s been doused in boric acid; use a shovel when you can to transport the material from the bag into the wall cavity.

That said, if you purchase cellulose materials at a home improvement store, ask if they rent out blowers for free or at a discounted rate. In many cases, if you buy the material from the store, they’ll rent out the blower at no extra cost.
