"My former tenants trashed the laminate flooring I Daniel Flooring installed 3 years ago. I updated to luxury vinyl flooring. Daniel flooring has always been prompt. They worked with my condo association to get the flooring installed. They installed the flooring immediately upon approval within a few days. It looks lovely."

"I could not be more happy with Wes and his team and my floors. Wes came out to my house and went over his process and then emailed me a quote that evening. I had a good feeling about Wes and I found his quote to be reasonable. I had heard about the matte finished travertine but I hadn't seen it in person. They offered to do sample areas on my floors to show me the difference between matte and satin. I chose the matte, it really tones down those yellows in the travertine and creates a much more modern looking floor. The guys were there 2 days as originally stated and every precaution was made to keep my home clean. They took pictures of the location of my furniture and decorative items and placed everything back where it was originally. They were all just the nicest, most respectful guys and they did such a great job on my floors. Wes also polished my granite countertops at no additional charge, at his suggestion. I highly recommend them!"

Floor Cleaning and Waxing questions, answered by experts

You can regularly clean your Marmoleum® flooring by sweeping, vacuuming, and damp mopping with a neutral cleaner. Avoid using highly abrasive materials or high-pH cleaners to prevent cracking, warping, or discoloration, and never wet mop, as heavy water exposure can damage the floors. Marmoleum® floors have a topcoat called TopShield preinstalled, so you do not need to polish them.

Steam mops can be a better option than traditional mops because the steam can lift stubborn dirt from floors without using chemicals, and it also kills bacteria and dust mites. However, steam mops have drawbacks: they are more expensive, require an electrical outlet, and are not suitable for all flooring types, such as laminate or hardwood, which can be damaged by the steam.

Regular mopping can also sanitize floors effectively when done with the right cleaning products and techniques, though it may require more effort. The main advantage of a traditional mop is its versatility, as it can be used on any type of flooring. Ultimately, the best choice depends on your floor type, budget, and cleaning preferences.

If you have waxed floors or floors with a penetrating stain or oil, you can shine them up with some more wax and a cloth or floor buffer. After cleaning the floor thoroughly, apply wax to the floor in small sections and use a clean, dry cloth or towel to buff it until it shines. You can also use an electric polisher, which is especially handy for large floors.

You should strip and wax hardwood floors every six months to two years. The actual length of time between stripping and waxing depends on the wear and tear that the floors see. Stripping and waxing floors can help repair hardwood floor damage and give the room a fresh look.

A floor polisher won’t remove scratches from a wood floor, but the polish can fill in surface scratches and make them all but invisible. If you run your fingernail gently over the scratch and it doesn’t catch, chances are that the polish will hide it. If it does catch, you might want to have your floors fully refinished, and you might need to have a professional floor sander in for particularly deep scratches. When in doubt, call a professional floor polisher to determine if polish will fill in your scratches or if you need more in-depth services.
