"Thanks to Kevin our pool is clean and welcoming. Kevin is dedicated to doing a great job. He is here every week and our pool has never looked better. We have had a number of pool companies over the years, and I am very fussy about the pool, and no company has been better (or even come close) to the way Kevin keeps the pool. I would recommend him to everyone. Betty S."

"The pool man came in and started testing the water while setting up his vacuum. He was very efficient and planned his time well as he was doing several minor jobs while setting up. He disassembled the filter and was cleaning the element while telling me that next week he would clean the salt element to help maintain the pool's Chlorine level. I was very impressed with the services provided by Happy Pool and Spa and it is worth every penny to keep them going. The staff seem to know their stuff and were very anxious to share their knowledge regarding my pool. I am very happy with the service provided to me by this Pool company and I would recommend them highly to anyone seeking pool service in the area."

Pool and Spa Servicing questions, answered by experts

If you want to have a chemical-free spa, or if you are wondering how to keep your hot tub clean naturally, there are several options. Some individuals choose to run their hot tub without treatment at all and simply clean it more often (although you risk bacteria, fungi, and algae growth if you take this route); others use natural products like vinegar or Borax. Ozone, ultraviolet light, and electrolysis systems are also eco-friendly ways to have a clean hot tub without chemicals. Saltwater hot tubs are popular with people who are sensitive to chlorine, bromine, and other traditional hot tub chemicals.

You should drain your hot tub three to four times a year to give it a thorough cleaning. This should take about an hour, but it depends on the size of your tub.

How often you change the water in your swim spa depends on how often you use it. Most manufacturers recommend changing the water every three to six months. If you use your swim spa throughout the seasons, it’s a good idea to set up a quarterly deep cleaning schedule. The ideal instructions should be in the owner’s manual.

Using bubble bath, bath oils, bath salts, or moisturizing products that contain butters or oils can damage your jetted tub. Because of the water pump and jet mechanism, you need to be more selective with products for a jetted tub than you would for a traditional bathtub in order to keep it functioning properly and avoid expensive repairs. These products also leave residue that can feed mildew and mold, so it’s best to avoid them.

Where you drain a hot tub largely depends on local regulations, but you must not drain chemically treated water where it can damage the environment. Direct the water toward a sanitary sewer drain that will take it to a treatment facility. If your lawn has a dedicated drainage area that’s free from plants and foundations, you can likely drain it there. Avoid storm drains, as the hot tub water will enter waterways and could hurt aquatic life. Likewise, do not pour it out directly on any public land or where it can get into your neighbors’ property.
