"They showed up when they said they would. They're estimate was a lot lower than the other estimates I got. Matthew never hesitated to do whatever it took to make sure the job was done and done right. Old ceilings, leak Stains that needed repair.. He and his assistant did a fantastic job. Did all but one room and the kitchen and even did another handyman.Job for me which involved construction and painting. Again did all of it in two days for a great price."

"Yes. I actually hire Art Hamlin in 2007 to paint an interior veranda room. I then hired him again to paint it again to change the color in 2023 as well as paint another in my house. This said his quality and professionalism was top notch both times. He does what he says he is going to do and does it well."

"We are very pleased with the quality of the painting and the professionalism of the Nelson Brothers. They were punctual, pleasant to talk to, cleaned up after themselves at the end of each day and they finished the job in the time that they quoted. Their pricing was reasonable and there were no surprises of extra charges. We will definitely use them for future painting needs."

Painting questions, answered by experts

You can apply stain over peeling stain, but it’s not a good idea. Your old stain will get in the way of your new stain bonding to the wood, so you’re likely going to see the same issue again shortly after application. Your best option is to sand off the old stain and clean the surface thoroughly before applying new stain.

Maintain your wattle fence by inspecting it at least twice per year for loose weaving and degrading branches. Replace any seriously degraded sections, ensure water drains properly around the posts, and trim any sprouting branches if you used green wood. If you notice the weave loosening, you can often tighten it by gently pushing down on the top branches. You can also apply a natural wood preservative every two to three years to extend the fence's lifespan.

If you have the time and the budget, we strongly recommend staining your fence, especially if it's looking a bit tired or hasn't been treated recently. While you may not see the same return on investment (ROI) as you would with a project like a kitchen remodel, staining a fence is one of the best ways to add a facelift to your property—a new fence stain adds serious curb appeal to your home.

Yes, you can and should paint or stain pressure-treated wood to help prevent the boards from cracking. However, you must wait for the wood to dry out completely before applying any finish. Freshly treated wood can take weeks or even months to dry; a common recommendation is to wait three to six months. To check if the wood is ready, perform a simple water test: drip some water onto the surface. If the water beads up, the wood is still too wet and needs more time to dry. If the wood absorbs the water, it is dry enough to be painted or stained. You can proceed with building your deck or fence while the wood is still wet, but you will need to wait to apply the paint or stain.
