"I hired Leo Gonzalez, the owner of Kolibri Painting LLC, to etch and paint my garage floor as well as paint my entire garage. I saw that he had (20) 5 Star ratings on Home Advisor and never a lower rating which got my initial attention. I interviewed him on site and he said he could do it the cheap way or the right way. I selected the right way. So day one was the etching process where he used muriatic acid to clean a very ugly floor and remove stains, etc. Day 2 was a beautiful gray epoxy paint, day 3 was gray epoxy with flakes providing for traction and beauty, and day 4 was a final coat of clear epoxy for the ultimate protection of the floor. Leo's work was the epitome of excellence. He showed up four days in a row when he said he would and his work was absolutely meticulous. I have in the past hired many great companies to improve my home to include projects such as pool installation, pool screen, vinyl fence, impact windows and doors, tile floors, wood floors, bathroom and kitchen renovation, metal roof, etc.,,,. All of these companies did great work but overall, Leo is just a notch above all these other companies when it.comes to timeliness and attention to detail and a reasonable price! I have since hired him to redo my pool deck which he is doing as I write this review. He also has a very cool personal story, having gotten out of Cuba 8 years ago. H was university educated in Havana with a degree in architecture. the pay for him in our country was not that good so he started his own business called Kolibri Painting LLC. It is starting to take off. Highly recommend Leo. He has workers comp on himself and he generally is a one man show which helps him keep his overhead down and his prices below any of the bigger companies with more overhead."

"Adrian did a great job. I would recommend him hands down. He replaced my fence in a Timely manner. Reasonable price also cut down some trees for me and I’m going to have him come back and do some painting for me because he did such a great job. He’s also a very nice person."

Deck Maintenance questions, answered by experts

A cedar deck can increase your home's value if the project is executed well. The value added by a deck is influenced by factors such as location, materials, and craftsmanship. In regions with warmer climates, decks are particularly desirable, enhancing outdoor living spaces.

The key to getting the most value out of your investment, both in terms of home value and personal enjoyment, is to make sure your deck is built to exacting standards. You should consult with a professional deck builder to get the best results and the highest ROI.

It is possible to build your own deck, but it’s typically better to leave the work to a decking professional. Decks can be exceptionally complicated, especially if you want a wrap-around or second-story deck, and you don’t want to risk making an expensive or dangerous mistake. It’s usually better to hire a decking pro who can pull permits and build a structurally sound deck that will last for decades and provide the maximum return on investment.

Yes, transforming a deck into a sunroom is an absolute possibility. Building a sunroom involves framing in the deck area with walls, adding windows, and affixing a roof. This project is not an easy task, but it does provide a stylish addition to your house. Not all deck designs support this type of renovation project, so consult a professional deck builder before beginning.

Before installing a new railing, check the condition of the deck frame and joists, especially around the perimeter where posts attach. If boards are loose, soft, or show signs of rot, the structure may need repair. A deck pro can inspect your framing to confirm it meets load-bearing requirements.

The best direction for a gate to swing depends on its location and purpose, but swinging inward is the general rule. An inward swing is often considered safer, prevents the gate from opening into public spaces like a sidewalk, and may be required by local building codes.

There are exceptions and specific considerations. If your property is on a slope, an inward swing might not be possible. For a deck gate, it's safest to have it swing away from any steps. In a backyard, the direction can be a matter of preference, though an inward swing can be helpful when carrying heavy items like a wheelbarrow into a garden.

Regardless of direction, ensure the gate can open fully without hitting any objects or blocking spaces. While an inward swing is standard, a gate that can swing both in and out offers the most flexibility if your setup allows for it.
