"Jim replied within 5 minutes. Was here in 5 more minutes. Checked water connection to house. He turned off our water softener(under service) and all was solved. So within 15 minutes of call all was taken care of at no charge. Will be calling them again when needed."

"We have relied on Little Bear Plumbing (Paul) for a number of years, but he really came through this week. Two days before Christmas Eve, my tenant reported all her drains backing up. Although Paul was in the middle of finishing up work prior to leaving for Christmas family time, he promised to take care of the problem before heading out of state. He arrived at 7:00 P.M, finished the repair by 8:30, and assured a happy tenant and property owner. This guy is GOOD."

"Overall great experience, quality workmanship, quick install and best price of the 5 quotes I received. I believe the clean up afterwards was not that great and they could have spent an extra half hour on this. But overall I would hire them again even though the clean up was not ideal the other portions of the service were 10 out of 10. Highly recommend! I was a home inspector here in Fl for a few years."

Foundation Drain Installation questions, answered by experts

The cost of installing landscape drainage with the help of a professional can vary widely depending on factors like the scope of the project, your location, and the specific services needed. Smaller tasks, such as installing a French drain, may range from $10 to $50 per linear foot, while more extensive projects like installing a catch basin can cost several thousand dollars to tens of thousands. Obtaining multiple quotes from qualified professionals is recommended to get a precise estimate for your specific drainage issue.

Yes, the air from a damp basement can travel up into your living area through a process called the stack effect, so moisture, mold spores, and other debris in your basement air can all decrease your indoor air quality on your main floors. Additionally, damp basements can promote the rotting of building materials, which can damage flooring, insulation, and framing on your first floor in addition to materials in the basement.

French drains and yard grading systems are two highly effective ways to fix standing water around the foundation. Since the French drain uses a perforated pipe covered by gravel, you won’t have to worry about water taking the soil away from your foundation. Meanwhile, yard grading levels out the ground to prevent water from gathering around your foundation.

Gravity can make it difficult to make plumbing work in a garage if your plumbing is lower than your drainage point. Fortunately, there are ways to create drainage when adding a bathroom to a sunken garage. Plumbers will recommend using an upflush system that discharges into a pump from the back of the toilet.

A sump pump's lifespan is typically 7 to 10 years, though the general range can be anywhere from 5 to 15 years. The specific type of pump is a major factor: pedestal sump pumps last an average of 20 to 25 years, whereas submersible sump pumps last between 5 and 15 years. While pedestal pumps are less expensive to service, they are also louder and more prone to clogging.

Several other factors influence longevity, including the pump's quality, usage frequency, and maintenance schedule. A high-quality pump that is well-maintained in a dry climate may last for two decades, while a lower-quality, poorly maintained pump in an area with a high water table or frequent flooding may fail in six years or less.

Regular maintenance, including annual inspections and tuneups from a professional, can significantly extend the pump's life. It is time to consider a replacement if your sump pump runs constantly, cycles frequently, shows visible rust or corrosion, or trips a circuit breaker. As a preventative measure, many homeowners replace their pumps every eight years. It's also worth noting that a manufacturer's warranty can indicate expected lifespan, and some home insurance policies may not cover water damage from a pump that is past its recommended replacement date.
