"A Norton Painting returned all my calls, showed up on time, workers completed job on time and they were reasonably priced. I found them to be easy to work with, honest. We hired them to sand, stain and polyurethane our pew benches. They covered and protected our floors and carpet nicely and cleaned up after themselves. I would hire them again."

"I recently hired BNR Paint for a full interior and exterior painting job on my home, and I couldn’t be more pleased with the results! From the initial consultation to the final touches, their team demonstrated exceptional professionalism, skill, and attention to detail. The consultation process was seamless, with the project manager offering valuable insights and recommendations that truly enhanced the final look of my home. The painters were punctual, courteous, and incredibly meticulous. They took great care to protect my furniture and flooring, ensuring everything was left spotless at the end of each day. The quality of the paint job itself is outstanding. The colors are vibrant and consistent, and the finish is flawless. The exterior of my house looks fresh and inviting, and the interior rooms have been transformed into beautiful, welcoming spaces. What impressed me most was their commitment to customer satisfaction. They were responsive to all my questions and concerns, making sure I was completely happy with the work at every stage. I highly recommend BNR Paint to anyone in need of top-notch painting services. "When it came time to paint the interior of our home, the FIRST and ONLY company I called for an estimate was Cleanpower and Painting Corp. A few years ago, they painted the exterior of our home, and we were so pleased with the results that I vowed to call them when we were ready to paint the interior. Lisa Tuffy is such a pleasure to work with -- so kind, professional, punctual, and straight-forward. She is honest and straight-forward in her estimates and in all of her communications before the during the job. We had planned our painting project for a few months, and it just so happened that it was scheduled to start right at the beginning of the COVID-19 crisis. We had moved out of our house for other renovations as well as the painting, and Lisa was able to double-up her crew and get the job done quickly so that we could move back into our home before things began closing. They painted our ceilings, walls, doors, and baseboards. Everything was done to perfection! Our home looks beautiful! We will certainly call Cleanpower and Painting Corp for any painting jobs we do in the future."

Interior Painting questions, answered by experts

You should ask a few questions to ensure that your potential lead removal professional is experienced and qualified to handle lead-paint abatement safely, legally, and properly.

  • What are your qualifications and experience removing lead-based paint?

  • Are you licensed and certified to remove lead-based paint?

  • How do you test for lead paint?

  • What methods do you use for lead-based paint abatement?

  • What do you plan to do with the hazardous material when you remove it from the home?

  • Do you do replacement and painting work or removal only?

Sometimes you can get away with simply sanding and painting over small areas of peeling paint. However, the problem will likely return quickly, and the ridge between old and new paint will be visible. If you just need a quick fix and won't worry about appearance, chip away the peeling paint as much as possible, prime and paint the area, and skip the spackle step.

While a pressure washer is certainly powerful enough to remove old and peeling paint, this is not a great idea to do yourself. The pressure washer is so powerful that you could actually damage the walls as you strip away the paint. It’s best to leave paint stripping to the pros.

You can paint over lead paint, or “encapsulate” it with a special paint that includes an ingredient called an encapsulant. The EPA approves encapsulation as a lead paint removal method as long as the paint remains undisturbed. Standard types of paint without an “encapsulant” from the big box stores or hardware stores do not meet EPA standards for remediation of lead-based paint.

Soot can be harder to remove compared to other types of stains given its acidic nature. It can also cause underlying paint to peel off during the cleaning process. If your soot issue is a result of smoke damage, it’s recommended you call a pro to help remove it versus doing it yourself.
